(Rastaman vibration, yeah! Positive!)
That's what we got to give!
(I'n'I vibration yeah! Positive)
Got to have a good vibe!
(Iyaman Iration, yeah! Irie ites!)
Wo-wo-ooh!
(Positive vibration, yeah! Positive!)
If you get down and you quarrel everyday,
You're saying prayers to the devils, I say. Wo-oh-ooh!
Why not help one another on the way?
Make it much easier. (Just a little bit easier)
Say you just can't live that negative way,
If you know what I mean;
Make way for the positive day,
'Cause it's news (new day) - news and days -
New time (new time), and if it's a new feelin' (new feelin'), yeah! -
Said it's a new sign (new sign):
Oh, what a new day!
Pickin' up?
Are you pickin' up now?
Jah love - Jah love (protect us);
Jah love - Jah love (protect us);
Jah love - Jah love (protect us).
Rastaman vibration, yeah! (Positive!)
I'n'I vibration, yeah! (Positive!) Uh-huh-huh, a yeah!
Iyaman Iration, yeah! (Irie ites!) Wo-oo-oh!
*Positive vibration, yeah! (Positive!)
Pickin' up?
Are you pickin' up now?
Pickin' up?
Are you pickin' up now?
Pickin' up? (Jah love, Jah love -)
Are you pickin' (protect us!) up now?
Pickin' up? (Jah love, Jah love -)
Are you pickin' (protect us!) up now?
Pickin' up? (Jah love, Jah love -)
Are you pickin' (protect us!) up now?
Pickin' up?
Are you pickin' up now?
[* Sleeve notes give this line as "Vibes, got to have a good vibe".]
Have you ever beaten the shit out of someone? Bloodlust can be a very positive vibration.
I can't like this, I'm willing to, but can't. A 1.
You have my sincere condolences. 10!
In the gatefold and regular sleeve the windows of the bus can show a different picture depending on how you insert the inner sleeve. That is quite cute. but sometimes the inner sleeve catches on the split window mid support. My support is hanging loose now.. That is why collectors have always two of each. One to play and one to keep. See my Discogs collection https://discogs.com/user/artsliez
You won't ever see a Reggae fan make a disrespectful comment like this about the Beatles...

(In case you didn't get it, he wants you all to know he's way too cool for Bob Marley.)
Ah, I took him more literally, that he works for Carnival!

My rating is: 8 -Most Excellent
It was Marley's tremendous songwriting skills that brought Jamaican music to the masses, and what keeps his beautiful music in our brains.

Check out Groundation! Amazing contemporary Reggae-Jazzy-Roots from California. And they´re through NYC from time to time...
My goodness, how right you are. While much of Bob's work could be considered to come from the Top or Heart chakras, this is Root.
Seconded!

Stoked I got the chance to see Rita and Damien with the Wailers live twice. Never meant to be with Bob, but wow, what a show that would have been.
Yep, just pick up this album for some island delights on Island Records:
It seems obvious that to make that kind of music he must have been tuned into something greater.... as all great masters are. Yes to Jamaicans he was/is a God. But then God IS in all of us. We have only to tune into that vib to feel it.
Has a paint-by-the-numbers, for-the-tourists feel. I was busy with something else while this was playing in the background. Got too distracted because the back of my mind kept saying "When is this going to be over?"
Everybody in my churches loves this song...
There are no old tired Marley songs on RP.
guess that's better than SBD's!
you are already there if you want to be...just close your eyes and let Bob spirit you away....and that is one reason reggae is recorded.
I saw him in concert in Boston right before he died, he was wonderful.
Also found two joints on the floor, smoked one on the way back home.
My friend looked over at me and said "I am driving", I looked at her
and said nothing. Ah the memories of youth, best stuff I have ever
smoked in my life.
Well, that is what my head is telling me from now on.
Bit your tongue, those are the I-Threes. My friend and I wanted to be them back then!!!
Well, that is what my head is telling me from now on.
Unlikely any of them remember it.

so you let a couple hippies you didn't like create your opinion for you?
Yep. Don't like it either. Maybe that adds not a small amount of negativity to my sentiments. I sure do hope that settles one day and I will appreciate Bob Marley on his own terms.
I'm sure you are very nice and gentle in person but I have to say that sadly, sadly, some of the reggae hearing weed smokers I encountered so far were among the most closed minded people I've yet had the pleasure to meet. I have grown not to like them, and following that, I've grown not to like Bob Marley. I actually liked it before I learned you are not allowed to listen to anything else while ... well, doing anything, actually. Have a nice day!

GTFO out of my RP and come back with open minds

The whole album is one of my favorite B.M.W. records, especially the version of "Stir It Up".
Pardon me, but are you sure you're on the right train? I'm just asking.
Thanks, mate, that's a handy tip. Mind you, 6 hours output is going to result in one massive metalfitter of a MP3 file...
Not to mention the frustration of bumping the "next" button on your mp3 player when you're three hours in and losing your place
I came up with this last year when my company was experiencing bandwidth issues with our provider. I couldn't reliably stream RP, so I would record six hours worth every day and put it on my laptop to listen to the next day.
The -l switch tells it the number of seconds you want it to run, so you could use the command
streamripper https://206.71.145.10:8006 -a -A -d /path/to/some/directory -l 3600 -r
to record a one-hour block, for example, or whatever suits your needs. You could also use a while loop to get it to record a series of smaller files:
i="0"(Substitute square brackets for the < and > in the above code). The above would create 4 one-hour mp3 files.
while < $i -lt 4 >
do
https://206.71.145.10:8006 -a -A -d /path/to/some/directory -l 3600 -r
i=$< $i+1 >
done
I posted this in another song, but here's what I do:
I use Streamripper to record rp in six hour blocks that can be copied to my iRiver portable music player. That way, I can listen to rp even when I don't have an Internet connection.
If you have a Linux box (and if you don't, you should), you can use a simple bash script like this to automate the process:
if < ! -d "/path/to/some/directory" >; then
streamripper https://206.71.145.10:8006 -a -A -d /path/to/some/directory -l 21600 -r
fi
This checks for the existence of the directory /path/to/some/directory and - of it doesn't exist - records rp for six hours, creating the directory and saving the resulting file in it. When I'm ready for fresh music on my player, I copy the mp3 to it and delete the directory, so the next time the script runs it will record another six hours for me.
I use cron to run the script nightly. It only records if needed.
Update: if you really don't have a Linux box and don't want to be bothered to get one, VLC will record streams as well. There is a wizard in the File menu. Pretty straight-forward to set up. PM me if you have any questions and I'll try to help.
Again, this method just records blocks of RP, it doesn't break them up in to individual songs. If you want to do that, Streamripper is your best bet. But if you just want to "time shift" RP, to listen in the car or on your Walkman, VLC works great.

Of the records a live of Bob Marley, this song is one of most sensational and vibrant!; it is enters the songs more heard of always for me.
Is ever greatful remembering Mr. Robert "Bob" Nesta Marley

What makes you think they'd have you?
Who knows, maybe someday I will 'get it. It happened with Tom Waites.
