In the morning I'd awake
And couldn't remember
What is love and what is hate
The calculations error
Oh-oh-oh
What is love and what is hate
And why does it matter
Is to love just a waste
Why does it matter
Oh-oh-oh?

As the dawn began to break
I had to surrender
The universe will have its way
Too powerful to master
Oh-oh-oh
What is love and what is hate
And why does it matter
Is to love just a waste
Why does it matter
Oh-oh-oh?

Nice song but not a fan of weak head voices.
Big Bird drops acid and does his rendition of Gordon Lightfoot's "Early Mornin' Rain".
I donโ€™t know why but every time I hear that intro with the laughing cheering audience, I feel like sobbing. Tears peek out at the corners of my eyes.
Listening to this as I watch Boeing's starliner attempt to dock
at the space station....
Getting some Yes vibes. Tales from topographic oceans maybe ?
Amazballs!!!!
if the Lips are still touring the Yoshimi album this summer, go check it out.  Saw them in Milwaukee and they do not disappoint.  this album rocks live especially with the theatrics.  still finding confetti in my hair.
I bought this record cuz of Fight Song and put it aside.  I obviously need to put it back in the rotation.
Just such a great jam from a bunch of okies! +1 to 9. Followed by Still Corners, par excellent

This entire album is brilliant.  One of the best in the past 30 years.  They are also great live.

Syd Barrett was inspired by and quoting from the I Ching (The Book of Changes) when he wrote that song ("Chapter 24").  It is a cool song.

Not as far as I can hear.
Good Tune!! I never heard it before.  Thanx RP!

It's okay to get high in nature without music

The same production, Dave Fridmann, a former Mercury Rev member.

I've been listening to Radio Paradise for almost 20 years now.
This remains one of the most Radio Paradise songs for me.
I always wonder what's going on that's got the crowd laughing at several points during this song.
Reminds me a bit of Yes

This song feels like the cherry on a sundae.

Gee, doncha think that's kind of harsh? After all, the guy mostly plays weddings and stuff. I've never heard him sing, but it seems doubtful that he'd have much of a career if his voice is as bad as you say it is. Perhaps someone else cares to check him out: https://www.guitarsolo.com/

Bob Dillon.!  Good one, WonderLizard!
The bass line and that synthesizer. Stellar!

Beginning reminds me of Lightfoot's "Early Morning Rain"

I agree with all of the above...:)
So happy this song stays in rotation. One of my all-time favs.
Thanks for playing this! Very, very cool. Elbowish or Cloud Cultish to my ears. I'm not talking about who influenced whom. Couldn't  care less. Just mean that it sounds like it's coming from deep within.
(I'm aware of the silly puns that this last sentence can draw. And I'm fine with it )
A very special song.  Up there with the best.  The production is courageous - and works.
The lyrics are very poignant right now as the world gets closer and closer to the abyss.

The whole album works as a classic concept approach.
Sound like Mercury Rev. Nice.
Super boring.
Great song, great album, great band.
Definitely channeling some Moody Blues in that mix.

I saw them perform a few years ago at the Eden Project in Cornwall, supported by The Go Team and Here We Go Magic. Energetic, mad, sublime, and unforgettable. Love the Flips!
my life is better, having found the Lips...

Check out the Flaming Lips concert on Austin City Limits from 2004

https://youtu.be/vbujal3IcZM

Several years ago people made this into a play in San Diego and I believe Wayne Coyne was involved. It was really cool. They made it about battling cancer and Yoshimi was battling the cancer cells (pink robots) with her white robots (T-cells). They made these really cool larger than life robots that moved and interacted with Yoshimi. It bounced back and forth between the "real life" scenes and the battle with the robots. They weaved in most or all of the songs into the story. I wish it had been better received and was more successful, but I really enjoyed it. The promo above isn't the best but I think they tried to amp it up a bit but you get the idea. It was in 2012.

Are the Moody Blues only meant for wealthy folks?
This would be the ideal soundtrack to the '70's Star Trek TV series.

We are all poor imitations of something else I suppose.
They are like a trippy-er version of The Doves. Doves are more mainstream while the Lips are more out there.

Love this whole album.

Nice Air-like bassline going on there..
Feels cold and forlorn; sad and vacant.

Wouldn't call the Flaming Lips cheap amateurist in my book.
cheap amatuerist rip-off of "The Bends"?
Saw them in Switzerland some 15 years ago. I think the whole audience was some 50 people. Kinda sad. But they went out of there way to give us a good time, and it felt even more special and personal that way. One of the most memorable concerts I've ever been to. Thanks guys!
This band keeps going up in my estimation, into my list of greatest bands, thanks to songs like this.

I hope you're joking :)

"I hate this music! He sings like a horse!"
"but... don't you know WHO this is? It's Bruce SPRINGSTEEN!"
"oh.. well then.. I guess it's kinda great"
I consider this one of the most innovative songs of its decade...10

Make it so, and buy *At War with the Mystics* as well (Track 2: 'Free Radicals'). Myself, I didn't know they have put out that much since then. Need to listen.

OK nice but dang, let's pick up the beat now...
that was good.

My initial reaction too. But then, it all stayed on key, so, no, not Neil.  (But very nice to groove with)

The 5.1 version of this album is amazing.
This song takes many interesting turns along its journey...love it
I don't normally like voices of this timbre, but Flaming Lips and Cloud Cult have me rethinking this notion. All of which is article 7 (b) on Bill's agenda.
Thanks, Bill.
I think I need to buy this album.
Wow...no comments for 4 months?
What does that mean, I wonder?
This is a solid 8, but I cannot imagine this works well at a live concert.

Synthesizer, laugh, applause...repeat

...but still a cool song :)

After hearing this song so many times on RP, I realized that the background laughter and applause is on the same track that gets repeated over and over...

But pretty cool synthesizer though...
and pretty cool song.  Sounds like the soundtrack from a movie.
vocals echo Within You and Without You and Tomorrow Never Knows

This is a perfect album.
Still lovely. Bumping it from 8 to 9, just because it's almost December and the weather is more like late summer/early autumn. *sighs happily*
This really is quite a lovely little song - perfect for a summer afternoon.  {#Sunny}
This really song really only makes song with the entirety of the album....  RAD none the less.
LOVE

Funny, 'cuz I would say it's orangy or melony/pink... and I've also found that it also feels warm.
I am now very happy   {#Sunny}

These guys are SO wierd but totally worth it.
I love it... and by the way, it keeps my pigs happy! I blast them with RP every so often..

The lyrics and overall sense I get from this song suggests that maybe something orange was indeed involved in the transmution of the senses.

I can't say for sure, since I don't have that ability; but if I did, I'm pretty sure this song would look like Thom Yorke.

Me, too!  (But the "Big Bird drops acid and does Gordon Lightfoot's 'Early Morning Rain'" thing is pretty funny....) {#Whistle}

And RP hasn't cost me a fortune yet, but when I have some disposable income and a couple of bills are paid down, I suspect I'll end up back in debt, but with a priceless cache of new music.  It'll be worth it.  Music is always worth it. {#Yes}

You won't be sorry.  One of the Lips strongest albums to date in my opinion.  Has some fantastically weird songs.
