Like radios in heaven hearing just enough
And every single teardrop along the way
We put them in our pockets for a rainy day
But here we are in trouble like we always are
Just praying for a miracle and reaching for stars
We love you, would die for you, we need you every day
We got to get a message to the promised land
Like semaphores in motion so they'll understand
But every single vision that we saw today
We didn't quite believe it in the usual way
Yet here we are in heaven, who could want for more
We always end up getting what we're asking for
We love you, would die for you, we need you every day
We love you, wouldn't leave you, we miss you, far away
It's just another promise like we've heard before
We're never really knowing what we're fighting for
We love you, would die for you, we need you every day
We love you, wouldn't leave you, we miss you, far away
We love you, would die for you, we miss you, far away
We love you, would die for you, we need you every day
I miss the vapid, drugged-out 80's. Overall, the world was a better place then. I like this song, no apologies. :)
this statement feels truer in 2026
WTH? This is the only OMD track on RP? More! More!
If true, that's criminal. This is a good song but not their best on the album Pacific Age--that'd be the title track.
OMD took a long hiatus but the latest albums are worth mining for RP songs, William.
Right on! OMD is one of those bands that people view as a "one-hit wonder" because of the popularity of "If You Leave", but they had a lot more (and better) songs than that!
NWG! Miss you ....

It was, none needed, but it also saw the rise of Reaganism/Thatcherism which, over the next 30 years which has fucked everything up for our kids. So. you know, swings and roundabouts.
OMD is a really good band. Not the best song from them, but I will take it...
Surprised that this is the sole OMD song on RP
This must change. The latest album has some great songs.
Some more OMD, please!
Second that emotion! Their first albums were brilliant and a bit weird. The Pacific Age was a grab for pop stardom and had some big misses but I loved it. This isn't the best song from the album--the title track is the one RP should be playing--but I love that you're playing OMD.
Now how 'bout some Pet Shop Boys?
I also do - but the risk of nuclear war was extremely higher then.
If you wanted killer music, be drugged out and all the thrills of worrying about nuclear war ...
You should'a been around for the 60's. Nothing holds a candle to those days and times in those regards.
And now, the drugs are crappy, the music is itself vapid and we once again have that same country as in the 60's making nuclear threats. All the thrills of nuclear war without any of the goodies from the old days to make it more endurable.
Sigh ... pass me the Lysergic acid diethylamide please ... STAT !
I saw OMD in concert and screamed like a groupie despite myself. Had so much fun I went back the next night.
That groove. If you don't dance and scream - you're dead.
"We've got to get a message to the stars above
Like radios in heaven hearing just enough
And every single teardrop along the way
We put them in our pockets for a rainy day"
Pretty lame, I know. But I'm still trying.
I also do - but the risk of nuclear war was extremely higher then.
Like menstrual cramps?
wouldn't mind to hear that one again, why not on RP? OK, it really does sound outdated, but it definitely reminds me of my teenage years in the 80s - so Bill and Rebecca, please consider to put this back on the Playlist again!

That's what makes you cool.
