really prefer other versions more.

Agree with both comments.
I remember Sleepwalk was co-opted by a lot of TV advertisers in the 1990s.  They all did that little pitch bend riff to help make the commercial lighthearted, and it was annoying.
Heard this a lot1 Like it lots!

Beautiful tone but a bit busy for my taste. Danny Gatton did my fave version. The video of Chat and Leo just below is pretty great.

Danny Gatton was GODLIKE!!!  My he rest in peace!
EXCELLENT!!!

Definitely nice wankery!

Can't beat a good bit of wankery. And for unbeatable wankery Dire Straits / Mark Knopfler is hard to beat.

Can't believe I'm commenting on beating wankery on a public forum.

Everything Danny Gatton dId is GREAT!!!
GREAT!
Santo & Johnny version much better.
Simply great. Also, Rainer Ptacek version is fabulous.

This is beyond a doubt, the very best version of  Sleepwalk there is.  Santos and Johnny did an amazing job, but Stray Cats knock it out of the park.  It totally leaves me speechless and in awe. To tell the truth, I am not a Straycats fan, but this is an exception.

Classy version of a great song.
A faithful rendition; nice.

Sure sounds a lot like "This Boy" by The Beatles

I think Brian recorded another take on this with the BSO.  Will go listen to that one after this.

I think maybe Satriani recorded a good version too.

I think with a piece like this, there is no "better"...     it is each artist's interpretation of the piece.    One may align with your personal taste more, so you like it better, but I may prefer a different one.

Regardless, I enjoy this piece no matter who is interpreting it.

Well put.

This is a departure from the rockabilly Stray Cats is known for. I really admire the fantastic guitar work. 9
I'd go with the Joe Satriani version.
Starry skies above me, literary.

Thanks!  Couldn't have said it better myself!
The French speak of  "interpreter une chanson", to interpret a song.
And so, as you point out, each artist gives his or her own 'interpretation'.
Pure excellence .  Thanks RP.
Thank you I needed this today.

Probably, no definitely, the only time I've enjoyed listening to the Stray Cats.  Sleepwalk is a masterpiece!
Great to hear these guitar tracks on RP - I do fear  Hank Marivn and The Shadows have been left in the limelight!

Love this song. Here is a fabulous cover from Bristol UK based band Ruzz Guitar's Blues Revue - Sleep Walk Cover

Not quite up to the original by Santos & Johnny in the '50s
Great track. I love the original. This version is good, but is a little overplayed IMHO - less is more.

Great version here from Bristol UK based Ruzz Guitar Blues Review

Please don't.
Finally a Stray Cats song that I like.  It shows that these guys really are good musicians, they just write bad rockabilly songs.
and now back to basics
i feel another good run is on it's way

Yeah, it's a great wedding song but there's a reason for that. Timeless gem this one...everyone can like it.

Why not play Santos and Johnny-?

The original version gets played here, as does a version by Joe Satriani.  This version's pretty faithful to the original - nice.
I love Radio Paradise.  Where else can you hear random stuff like this?  Then followed by B.B. King..  I love RP!

Agree. Sometimes the oldies we remember (some of us, anyway) aren't nearly as good on hearing them again after umpteen years. This is what I remember "Sleepwalk" being but the S&J version was much simpler and less interesting now.

Remembered a film and set mark with 6 to 9

So les Paul
Yes!! First time hearing this. Surprised that it's by The Stray Cats. Like it. Alot. 7.
slightly self indulgent...but somewhat faithful and truly a pleasure to hear.
SETZER IS GREAT!
STRAY CAT TOO - ESPECIALLY LIVE!

This is the song that always played at our town movie theatre, just before the feature started.
Simply gorgeous song.  There's a great Amos Garrett version too because he likes bending his strings woozily!

Habib Koité & Bamada - Wassiyé
      ==>       O Tentacles - Iscencezric   ==>     Steel Pulse - Sound System     ==>        Shriekback - All Lined Up       ==>    Stray Cats - Sleepwalk

Does anyone remember this as Eddie Ducettes (radio announcer) theme song back in the 60's?{#Motor}
Care to dance, anyone?  {#Hearteyes}
It may have been featured in the Havana Nights DD movie soundtrack. I dont see it listed, but that movie was intended to take place in the very early 60s and this is a 1959 hit for Santo and Johnny.

I second that emotion...
The version of this tune found on the Brian Setzer Orchestra's 2002 Live In Japan recording is outstanding, even better than this.
Too relaxing of a groove, I'm not going to get any work done at all with my mind wandering away from my body like that...

Wow,,, to bad this stuff did not get air play back when they were "big". Dang good stuff
