Yeah, this was worn-out almost from the word "go."  You should only hear this ersatz version while schlepping late-night through a supermarket, wondering if retail America can truly rob you of your soul.

I'd PSD away, but that magic is temporarily borked...again.

Eric Clapton yet again, this time in a more contemporary version, watercolor.

Ahhh, the lounge version. This is one of those songs that in either form, I just don\'t ever need to hear again. My humble opinion.
I was very surprised, the first time I listened to Clapton playing this bluesy version of Layla. Cleverly done. I can imagine he longed to do the song completely different after playing it so long and so many times. This was the right occasion. But, I must say, that after listening to it a couple of times I started missing the passioned, hard driving original version. By now I find this one too safe. It probably has got to do with the fact that he and his audience grow old and won\'t be disturbed by too much passion. It can be dangerous at that age, you know! :D

Not Mr. Clapton\'s best version of this song. The original D&D version was just dripping with passion...one could almost feel his heart being pulled apart. This one is very very vanilla...I would expect to hear this cut at my local Holiday Inn bar.

But luckily we don't have to listen to his hair or his glasses... ;) And Seriously... I disliked the earlier version of Layla.. many of his songs that he did for MTV Unplugged I enjoyed MUCH more than their originals... so much so.. (studio announcer voice) I BOUGHT THE ALBUM!! would love to hear more of his live & 'unplugged' type stuff.. especially if it isn't on the "mtv unplugged" album of his..

I don\'t know about the \"coked out\" version of this song, nor do I really care. This version of \"Layla\" is the most memorable and I hope it lasts.
Eric shows his versatility with this \"accoustic\" version, which I believe was initially recorded for the MTV Unplugged sessions.Original still the best IMHO ;)
