Weval is one Dutch dj and music-production duo out Amsterdam, comprising Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte-Albers. They make electronic music with influences from deephouse, pop, soul and funk.

The duo met during a birthday in a café Utrecht. Their first collaboration was filming and producing one music video for a friend of Coolen. During this project, their focus gradually shifted to producing music, leading to the official beginning of their collaboration in 2010.

Weval released the EP in 2024 Night Versions out. At the beginning of 2025, the duo announced that they would follow a new musical course, characterized by faster tempos and a more energetic, dance floor-oriented sound, partly inspired by their experiences as DJs. This development was reflected, among other things, in the single Dopamine, which at a rate of approximately 144 BPM was considerably faster than their previous work. Shortly after, the duo announced their fourth studio album Chorophobia on, which will be released on September 5, 2025 via the Technicolour label. According to Weval, the album marks a conscious shift towards a more extroverted style, centering on club structures and higher BPMs. The title Chorophobia refers to their previous hesitation to be classified as a pure dance act.
