As a singer, I don't expect all folk singers to have professional sounding voices — that would lose the charm and authenticity. However, the soloist quavers in the lower registers on the long notes in a way that doesn't translate as confident or pleasant, but sounds like struggling. This is due to a lack of breath support from the diaphragm. There IS a way to sing soft AND have good breath support. A good vocal coach can help the singer strengthen their voice without fundamentally altering their tone or style.
Arid comment
The album cover is a bit of an homage.
You're right!
I'm 100% certain that JD would adore this cover of his song. Outstanding version of an Americana classic.
Please explain how in the hell you would know what JD would or wouldn’t like?

Remind me to never invite you to a party. As a singer myself, they are doing a fantastic job and their harmonies are superb.
Meh. I’d rather hear JD. This adds nothing to the absolutely wonderful original, Hard pass. 👎🏼
Have to agree, she's no Patty Griffin or other more emotive folk/country singer. I'm bored when it plays and have to skip it.

I look forward to your deconstruction of every Bob Dylan and Neil Young song ever recorded, Professor. 🤣

Also one of the girls (singing mostly the highest notes) is not very steady. They indeed could use some training.
Any JD cover is ok with me
