These things eat at your bones and drive your young mind crazy
But when you place your head between my collar and jaw
I don't know much, but there's no weight at all
And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
'Cause if I say I miss you, I know that you won't
But I miss you in the mornings when I see the sun
Somethin' in the orange tells me we're not done
To you, I'm just a man; to me, you're all I am
Where the hell am I supposed to go?
I poisoned myself again, somethin' in the orange
Tells mе you're never comin' homе
If you leave today, I'll just stare at the way
The orange touches all things around
The grass trees and dew, how I just hate you
Please turn those headlights around
I need to hear you say you've been waitin' all night
There's orange dancin' in your eyes from bulb light
Your voice only trembles when you try to speak
Take me back to us dancin', this wood used to creak
To you, I'm just a man; to me, you're all I am
Where the hell am I supposed to go?
I poisoned myself again, somethin' in the orange
Tells me you're never comin' home
If you leave today, I'll just stare at the way
The orange touches all things around
The grass trees and dew, how I just hate you
Please turn those headlights around
To you, I'm just a man; to me, you're all I am
Where the hell am I supposed to go?
I poisoned myself again, somethin' in the orange
Tells me you're never comin' home
If you leave today, I'll just stare at the way
The orange touches all things around
The grass, trees, and dew, how I just hate you

Holy Jason Isabell bat man!
i like zach much more.
Well, hate is a strong word. But I don't like your mother-in-law either.
Oologah, Oklahoma. Born in the same town as Will Rogers !!!
I'm willing to wager that this song arose from a bet.
"Betcha can't write a song with orange as a main lyric....it doesn't rhyme with anything...ha ha!"
I hope so.
An 8
Edit: I keep wanting this to be Decoration Day when I hear it.
Okay, this is pretty damn good. But, I'm willing to wager that this song arose from a bet.
"Betcha can't write a song with orange as a main lyric....it doesn't rhyme with anything...ha ha!"
It's not a terribly new word. I'm in.
No, he doesn't sound something like Jason Isbell, he sounds EXACTLY like Jason Isbell. And, as others have said, not a bad thing at all. Uncanny though!
Lyrics/phrasing/subject matter too.
Sounds like Ryan Adams, too,
Lyrics/phrasing/subject matter too.
come up too often
Absolutely LOVE this tune.
Do you? Do you really? I know this artist's hometown where he was raised. His song "Cold Damn Vampires" or "Damn Cold Vampires" whatever nonsense on Nashville in particular and the recording industry more broadly. Welcome to adulthood. He'd be blown out of most living rooms where he's from by the paperboy. And tries to play the victim of the industry while employing the capitalist mechanisms in place to promote himself. Sheesh, what an artist!
Holy Jason Isabell bat man!
My first listen started 45 seconds ago and that was my first thought. Bingo!
somewhat less whiney
Why reminds you too much of you?
The orange could also signify tail lights as she drives away.
Holy Jason Isabell bat man!
somewhat less whiney
Holy Jason Isabell bat man!
Though the same!
Holy Jason Isabell bat man!
Instant 9 with a high liklihood of moving up a notch at the next listen.
"Betcha can't write a song with orange as a main lyric....it doesn't rhyme with anything...ha ha!"
Can somebody please tell me what "the orange" is.
I imagine he's referring to the orange sky of a sunrise.
...But I miss you in the mornings when I see the sun
Somethin' in the orange tells me we're not done...
"Bryan discussed missing a significant other even though he knows that the feelings probably aren’t mutual. Since he talks about missing this special person every time the sun comes up, she’s likely constantly on his mind."
Can somebody please tell me what "the orange" is.
Sunset, a metaphor of the end of the story, sigh :(((
On first listen I like this. I can understand the Jason Isbell comment but that's not a bad thing.

How I'd feel if my wife decided I wasn't worth it anymore.
How I feel today.
How I'd feel if my wife decided I wasn't worth it anymore.
I pray she doesn't and your statement remains conjecture... Though experience suggests it is accurate conjecture
