She's a box car
Rolling by
Like a black star
In the sky
She's a failure
Once or twice
Like a trailer
Spinning out upon dizzy ice
Flowers fly
When we grow old
Snakes get high
Or so I'm told
She's an eagle
Out on the road
Like my favorite
Beatle everyone
Bought and sold
All my love and half my kisses
Superstar go do the dishes
I just want the great apes to be free
Come on now you lazy cowboy
Heads or tails but not right now, boy
I just want the great apes to be free
She's a rain bird
On the prowl
Like an urge to be yourself
That you won't allow
She's a forest
That we burned
Just a blueprint for a life
That we never learned
Flowers fly
When we grow old
Snakes get high
Or so I'm told
She's a lynch mob
On the street
Take another step
And I will kill the beat
All my love and half my kisses
Superstar go do the dishes
I just want the great apes to be free
Come on now you lazy cowboy
Heads or tails, but not right now, boy
I just want the great apes to be free
She's a bus stop
Glockenspiel
She's a simulation life
That you thought was real
She's an image
That we blurred
It's a pixelated panther
Now let it purr
All my love and half my kisses
Superstar go do the dishes
I just want the great apes to be free
Come on now you lazy cowboy
Heads or tails but not right now, boy
I just want the great apes to be free

What th happened to them and to the decent lyrics ?
This song is a ripoff of Carrie Underwood's song "Blown Away".
Yay, it's the Luke Warm Bell Peppers.
Sometimes bands grow in directions we as fans might not appreciate. The jury's still out on this one after the first listen. I'm not the same person I was when hearing them for the first time 38 years ago. This does grab my ears and cause a reaction like the stuff I listened to from them so long ago, and that's ok. We've both changed a lot.
Seems to meander, guitar at times out of sync, noodling...
I never thought I'd see the day when a RHCP song gets 5.5 on RP.
I do wonder if this is less an indictment of RHCP and more of a sign the demographics of RP are changing.
Boring
Its hard for me to tell after one listening how much I like a song but I hear a lot of solid RHCP stuff going on. I understand the nostalgia for the old hard driving days, but after all, they have been around almost 40 years. From what I read, bands have a need to evolve, a need for artistic expression and they get pressure to put out music that is just not more of the same old stuff rehashed. I've been a fan since Thrashin' featured them in the 80's. I think a lot of how listeners rate songs and bands is based on what was going on in their life when they were introduced to that music. Musical taste is subjective. Some of my favorite bands and songs don't get rated well here and there are bands that people love and rate high that I just don't connect with. I really appreciate Radio Paradise's eclectic mix! I sometimes get upset at all the negative stuff people write, but I also read a lot of thoughtful remarks and learn a lot of trivia/history about artists here. Thank you RP! I give the Great Apes 7 to start. RHCP fan for life!

What did I miss? When did they become an Arena Rock band?
Good Tune!! First time I've heard it. Thank You RP!

Maybe they don't need to sound the same. Not everything needs to be everyone's cup of tea.
Geez, this doesn't sound like the RHCP. Where is the power, syncopation, staccato vocals delivery, big choppy slap bass. This feels over-produced and a bit dull. They seem to be mailing it in, IMHO.
Opens with a 3 from Napoli on the Gulf

Please retire.
Reminds me I first saw the infamous sock poster at a downtown Santa Cruz record store, just after the earthquake, circa 1990

I'm not a huge fan but I kind of like this. Thanks Bill
Say what you will, but RHCP always shows up with the rhythm section, and the precise lyric cadence and rhymes. That really appeals to my OCD.

Michael Peter Balzary aka Flea on bass. A true master of the craft.
What??
In spite of a couple of lines and the song title, there is no way that this song is actually about apes and their living conditions. No way. He's got to be referring to humans. Right?

Sometimes you have to stop ...
Somewhat disappointing for a RHCP fan. Sounds like they have plagiarised themselves.
