I have seen Kishi Bashi perform 6 or 7 times over the years and this (while a cover) is one of my favourite songs.  It's usually in the last set of the show, he comes down from the stage and plays it in the middle of the floor surrounded by the audience.  He grew up in the town I live in.  (I don't know him just know of him).  But I have seen this song performed with his parents present in the audience.  The proud and adoring looks from his parents while he  is singing is heartwarming.   Thank you RP for playing Kishi Bashi.

Great story!
I have never heard this song covered. It was stunning and other comments indicate this is a major talent!

Love the original song, and I love the Talking Heads, but this, this just isn't it.
David Byrne used a string section when he appeared on Austin City Limits years ago. It's one of my favorite YouTube videos...

That would be a hell of a wedding reception!

Beautiful cover of “our song.”  My heart soars.

Boy, a tough song to cover well, but done beautifully here.

I  Agree completely!
This isn't bad at all! I might even like it better than the original. Also yesterday William played a version of "Thank You for Sending Me an Angel" by Blondshell that was just amazing, so if you like nicely reimagined Talking Heads covers, check it out!
I love Shawan Colvin's cover but this is on another level. Have to check out his other work.
Following on from Thank You For Sending Me An Angel! Brilliant, thank you

Interesting.. I was just thinking that Kishi sounds like David Byrne if Byrne could sing.

  that's pretty funny!

i'm not a fan.  i actually like the original.

Decent cover, though my ears kinda want to hear similar looney vocals as David's.

This just stopped me in my tracks, beautifully done.
A "graduate" from Of Montreal, eh?  (They are good!)  I'll listen to him a few times before voting.

In *my* imagination, David Byrne would like this. Nicely done. Captures the spirit of the original.

why would capturing the spirit of the original elevate this when the original already did it?

meh

This one's not bad, but overplayed.
Love the cover art!
not sure if it's the strings but this is a quite pleasant cover of the terrific version by The Talking Heads tune, that always struck me as one of my "our tunes"....

Thank you RP! I just LOVE some of the covers you play!
Where else could music fans hear this music.
I might add that as I am writing
this you are playing" The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and this has made my day since college.
Pleasant song, not a great movie.
Nice on first listen.
2 Talking Heads songs consecutively.

Personally, I have a red meat affinity

Happy to see Kishi Bashi on RP!  Many great considerations on lighght if you are not looking for a Talking Heads transition.  No steak required

Saw Kishi Bashi perform live twice including once 8 months pregnant. His musical prowess and command over a number of instruments is mind blowing. And his ability to get everyone on their feet dancing (including a heavily-pregnant me) with a violin an a beatbox is something I'll never forget.
Decent cover, though my ears kinda want to hear similar looney vocals as David's.
