Baa baa black sheep have you any wool
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full
Reminds me of some song that I used to know.
Weird concept but it REALLY goes well with the song.

Seems like a bad cover of the Walk Off The Earth cover.

Oh snap! I actually kinda like it, but now you have me picturing a “video” for this version with five Ronobirs all dressed in black playing the one sitar together. One sitting down is wearing a blond wig and one standing at the head end has a fake beard and is wearing a watch cap.
Props for remembering Walk Off the Earth, by the way.
I enjoyed this, but I couldn't help but laugh at the fact that a play of this is followed by Bill with a "You might not know that we have a skip button" message.

The man knows his audience...
Yes, Bill. I did skip.
perfect angst.
Yes   and NO!  at the same time....

LOL twice, Glad that "smackiepipe" is such a good music appreciator also.

Just bumped the rating.  Really chill and well done cover.
And personally I like the album cover even if it's a bit goofy.
Maybe that's the point.
hmmm

If ever there was a song that deserved its own instrumental sitar treatment... this would be the one.

Kinda like it.
Sigh. Another novelty record.
If there is such a thing as Indian elevator music, this is it

it does look like a cardboard cut-out . But as the other commenter noted, there may have been a limited budget or someone lacking in photoshop and design skills. When I see a bad design or mediocre one, I go with the assumption that the client weighed in too much, or their family member "got involved". You know, "this is what my wife came up with in Powerpoint".
Most designers I know get bent out of shape about every bad design/bad typography/kerning they see. And I do mean every.  There's an endless amount of bad design and bad art in this world  that I long ago accepted. Save myself some agita that way. Now the clients that approve that stuff ? That's another story...

I actually like this very much.  I still own the album East Meets West by Ravi Shankar and Yehudi Menuhin... fantastic album if one is in the mood for sitar and violin music. Very beautiful and relaxing music.

Whoever created that 'old computer cover' of this tune is both very creative and excessively bored; full approval from me, and solidifies an 8 rate on this sitar cover.

And maybe this one needs more Dot Matrix Printer!

That's funny! Not too long after I wrote this - I looked - found nothing...
Perhaps I have created a new genre... Now, how can I cash in on this? And will "cashing in" - involve accordion lessons?
Peter Green Slabo Day? Yes?

I'm a fan of sitar music so I like this and I do believe it's very well performed.

As to the album art, 99% of my music is digital, so when the album art is 1" or less, you don't notice many flaws.

Ah, brilliant. Ronobir’s cover of Gotye’s cover of Baa Baa Black Sheep. Great stuff.

I'll second that. A little different but enjoyable.

Why should that matter?
The Sitar and Ronobir are both Indian.

You had me at 'Deep House Sitar' ...

Well, if we stick around and listen long enough; are patient and eat all of our vegetables...

It's a great melody and conjures the original which was also excellent.  I understand why it's on a record called "Hypnosis".

Okay, you know you've written a catchy song when there's a raga version of it.
I can't hear this song anymore without thinking of this brain worm

There are times when I  hear music on a incredibly deep level, literally feeling the vibration and connecting .  While this is not one of those times being that that experience is ever more rare as the years continue to add up this piece does help me to remember those moments and for that I am thankful.
Better without the words!
It's nice, but needs more grit that would evoke the meaning of the vocals in the original. It's just too "lite" for me.

PSD= Play Something Different.
If you're not digging the current tune - Hit the PSD button and see where the musical lottery takes you! Although - I think that has been supplanted in the new player - You can hop between the main mix and mellow mix, etc...

Sitar is very interesting, but would love some of  the artist's original tunes.
this is not at all interesting, sorry but it's not worth the air time
I wonder if they played this 20 times a day on Indian radio back in 2015
Lawdy this is certainly much precious-cowbell for one tune.
Liked the way Bill played this after a different Beck song.
Gave this a 6 originally, bumping up to a 7.
A 7 just because.
The kind of music you expect to hear in a really bad Indian restaurant.

Beck?  Although I do like his music he doesn't have his Scientology-stained fingers anywhere near this.

Whatever.  I like it.
Rockin Ancient Instruments?

That's one of the reasons I listen to RP.

I also love the "What the fuck was that" songs too....this one is growing on me, at least I like hearing the Sitar playing 'western' music so it's interesting ….heck i'm going 5 to 7 now....Long Live RP and Deep House Sitar!!
Edit....going to 8 now....the Sitar Solo and outro really sold me....!

I thought this was Gotye originally.  Anyway, PSD for me.

Today followed by Sombaraï by Mathias Duplessy.  Two PSD's in a row, which is unusual for RP.
Wow, I really disagree with the majority of comments on RP. I take this as a funny cover. And not hearing much Sitar in my middle-aged life, it's just kinda cool...
I love this, and reading the comments, wow do opinions ever vary on this one
Actually, not half bad. I'm enjoying it.
GREAT! I'm really enjoying the playlist for the last 45 minutes or so since I've been listening.
As if the original wasn't bad enough we get the extended version on sitar.
Its ok.just goes on too long.
Ha! Weird!

Yuk. No variation, no anything to keep my interest on this remake.
This will never not make me think of the show Transparent :D
although at this point I think I would rather an electric guitar than sitar

I think this is pretty good, actually. I also agree with Stunix, both about the album art and about rating songs you don't like (see his "location").

I was amused to discover that my ratings (~1000) form a pretty smooth and totally unintentional bell curve.
There are a few times in this where he's just trying to hit that high note and falling painfully short. Similar to his graphic artist, though in their case they missed the scale entirely.

This is making me hungry.
If I hadn't heard the original version of this song 8 million times, I would probably love this, not knowing it was a cover. But since that's not the case, I must. escape. this. bass. line!
Why does this remind me of John McLaughlin?

Nice.

Somewhere I wrote that a cover may be better than the original. This is definitely not that case. :-(
Anyway, listenable. :-) Rating a 5.
The original was terribly overplayed, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it was a very good song.  And this seems to be a very well done cover that stands up on its own.  He has a good sense of when to follow the melody of the lyrics and when to stray from them to fit the sound of his instrument.
