Since you met you've been trying to pull me out of this apple pie bed.
You've been pulling, you've been winching, you've been hoisting
but my legs are made of lead.
And all I could hear from the very start
was the frequency of your beating heart
I was consumed with greed
You were like weed in a time of need
Lord I got down on my knees and believed!
Apple pie where my body's made of lead
Apple pie bed, apple pie where my body's made of lead
Since you met me you've been trying to pull me out of this cold, defiant soup,
You've been pushing, you've been pinching, you've been prodding
but my mind was in a loop.
And all I could hear since the dawn of man
was the ocean in a cola can
I was consumed by you,
I was like beer in a glass to you,
Girl I don't know what I'd do without you.
Apple pie where my body's made of lead
Apple pie bed, apple pie where my body's made of lead

Not a bad association I guess.

I completely hear what you're hearing. The vocal styling, chords and melodic turn etc.
Breaking Hearts -> Caught A Long Wind -> Apple Pie Bed -> Linger Longer

Is the theme "breaking wind in bed"?
Amateurish hipster crap. Flight of the Conchords material
Great soundtrack to the end of the week here in Dubai... Love Paradise....

From across the noisy shop, I could have sworn they were singing apple pie something.

No, can't be...

Yep it is!

Very poppy. Cool.

far from the the best to come out of nz and I'm very surprised to see it here but I haven't been able to get my choices past Bill 😁 ie the chills. straitjacket fits. aldous Harding. The muttonbirds and a few others

Bill needs to play The Chills. Quality stuff.
They helped form the original Luna lineup, along with the Feelies.
More Luna. More Chills. More Feelies.

Thanks for playing our awesome local lad! (Wellington, New Zealand). Cute and catchy song!

I'm with dig and Kurt.....in fact I just went 7→8 due to the 'low' rating on this unpopular pop song ;-)

OK I laughed out loud at this. I wasn't familiar with the song and thought I was hearing the lyrics incorrectly ... nope, that's the title of the song.

did someone below note this already?

showing my age. but also that I'd take names and kick ass in Name That Tune.

I kept waiting to hear something in this song to, well, explain, or "justify" "grand theft theme." But I don't hear it. Kind of a dull piece, IMO.

I heard this years back and never knew who it was, thought ELO as best guess.

Exactly what I was thinking.

this is literally I all heard when the chorus kicks in.

Lawrence Arabia? Really? That's the best he could do?

I thought it might be good for a minute then realized, no, it pretty much sucks.
Apple Pie Bad
Apple Pie Bed? What is that an analogy for?  Or are we to take that literally, in which case seems a little messy.

Poor Ringo. how many times have people started a sentence "not Ringo but..." But guess who has had a quiet little last laugh.

Or a loud, uproarious guffaw...check out Ringo and His All-Starr band sometime.

Ah, Lawrence Arabia remembers me of my 2 years living in New Zealand! Saw them live, it's a cool band with great humor. I recommend their song "Travelling Shoes".

Very Beatle-ly.  (not Ringo but any of the rest of them).

I'll bet this climbs in the ratings.

I agree, I like finding these hidden gems
Poppy songs that are not popular seem to appeal to me.
Breaking the Barriers of TIME
Interesting, how they evoke Lennon and Lynne and a happy, bouncy, sunny sound from bygone days...weird but not bad, I think, so far...

His name is James Milne. Cool song.
Sounds like I'm Stepping Out by John Lennon...

...except with much worse lyrics.
A bit reminiscent of Adrian Belew "Oh Daddy". Like this...though I feel after hearing this in heavy rotation...I'll tire of this quickly.

OK it's a silly song, but doesn't it sound like something the Beatles might have done? Sort of "Hello,Goodbyeish?  Or at least a one hit wonder early British invasion tune?

Interesting.....  I suppose.

Did this make the Top 40 in New Zealand?

Where's Old Zealand? Just curious.
