I Got a Woman
I got a woman - way over town
She's good to me - oh yeah
Well I got a woman - way over town
She's good to me - oh yeah
She's mine when I'm in need
She's kind - a friend indeed
Yeah I got a woman - way over town
She's good to me - oh yeah
She saves her loving - early in the morning
Just for me - oh yeah
She saves her loving - early in the morning
Just for me
Oh, she saves her loving just for me
Oh, she loves me so tenderly
Yeah I got a woman - way over town
She's good to me - she's good, she's good, she's good
She's there to love me both day and night
Never grumble about the fussing - always treat me right
Never runnin' in the streets - no leaving me alone
She knows a woman's place is right back there in the home
I got a woman - way over town
She's good to me - oh yeah
Now I got a woman - way over town
She's good to me - oh, oh
She's my baby - don't you understand?
I'm her loving man
Yeah I got a woman - way over town
She's good to me - oh yeah
I got a woman - way over town
She's good to me - oh yeah
Well I got a woman - way over town
She's good to me - oh yeah

My ears think this sucks, but what do I know.

Still think Ray Charles' version kicks this to the curb.

Oh sure, but let's hear Ray cover "Dazed and Confused".
Hmmm . . . actually . . .

I'm still waiting for Volume Two.
Wow, that's an impressive band lineup.
I remember well how disappointed I was when this record was released. Tastes differ, but in my eyes this is the worst self-exploit Page and/or Plant ever did (even worse than "The Firm").

Thanks for this, Bill. A good reminder that some covers do not work well with a different musical treatment, and that some extraordinary artists can record a clunker. R&B is where this tune resonates, and even Robert Plant could not save this effort..
Love it. Robert Plant paying tribute to the roots of rock, and he does a good enough job. Not Ray Charles quality, but as good as you can expect from a white British singer.
The band at the Epstein Bar Mitzvah was better than this
Still think Ray Charles' version kicks this to the curb.

Good question.
get up and dance..
Awesome! So sad that internet compression kills the nuances of the recording...

Whenever a group covers another group's song, there's usually a lot of debate about which version is better.
There can be no debate here. Ray Charles's version is light years beyond this one.

We say that in the states? That must be on the other coast — I don't hear it on the Pacific one. (And I know they're not talking about shagging in the heartland.)
Great for a fast shag, as they say in the states.

Plant on vocals and rampant horns, great stuff even if Jimmy Page sounds absent (but is supposed to be there in the mix)

They sound in sync, but they're a little too synthetic to me (as in keyboards and not real horns). Good song anyhow.
like the tune, but feel the vocal and horns/rhythm aren't exactly in sync.

Great 'ole tune....but John Mayer does a superior job with it!!!!
...how cool to hear this!..
Loved this. Bought it when it came out.
Fantastic group!
I've got the vinyl album too. I was surprised to see no Honeydrippers in the RP library so I uploaded a couple of tunes and this one made it to the play list. It's disappointing that they never came out with volume two
I've long admired Plant's genre breadth—got this one on vinyl.
It takes time to get into the right mood for this music, but once it's done, this is quite enjoyable.
