Skin, bone & silicone to all who dared to ask
She walked along the finest line of love and lonliness
You can see her as the sun goes down
She loved you in the morning, by noon you caught the train
A cheap return where homefires burn for a wife you gave no name
Be careful when you screw a friend, lies are hard to tame
You'll remember when the sun goes down
Hold me when the love takes too long to come around
I'll wait until the sun goes down
We hung upon her manner, bought the papers that she sold
She tried to laugh, go torn in half upon the centrefold
She said 'Cling to what you treasure and treasure what you hold.
How long before my sun goes down?'
Hold me when the love takes too long to come around
I'll wait until the sun goes down
She gave her last performance when they played her final chord
Morning song, oh hurry on and bring the last reward
Now every chair she sits upon is fashioned by the Lord
You can see them as the sun goes down
Hold me when the love takes too long to come around
I'll wait until the sun goes down
Hold me when the love takes too long to come around
I'll wait until the sun goes down
Here, here...
Hear, Hear. :)
I think it's a very good song (I went straight out and bought the album). The lyrics are very incisive and poignant. And I don't give a flying fuck what the singer looks like - I consume my music through my ears.
Here, here...
Funny a ho hum semi-lame weak sounding woman singing silicone in the first line is given a pass on RP from all the criticisms and comparisons with Who Is SHE Sounging Like/Lifting From. Given lots of 8s and mentions of being a skinny chick.
Odd throwback attitutdes, given how global and wise RP is otherwise. But the ability to HEAR the difference in women's voices is part of it.
And assertive women, too many ow ow ow!!!! Submissive women and fake tits, cozy, comfy, familiar, stamp of approval.

You know some of us like skinny chicks, they need love too ya know!

And yet you rated this only a 7? It's quite good, IMO, and if I'd heard her at a private concert in Catalan, I'd give her a huge boost! So you weren't much impressed, Prius?
I think I need to bump my rating up.
Done!
Velvet

...good one
Alarming? Every ten days or so is alarming?
Nice song.
Once every 10 days. (click the cover image top left of this post and it opens to show you the play count over 30 days)
Isn't it strange how different people perceive the frequency of tracks played at RP. Just goes to show how our brains can be fooled into thinking one thing when it is clearly another. . .
. . . just like main stream media and how it is used to change perceptions through propaganda.
:)
Check out her album (Plainsong), I considered it good enough to splash some cash on when it first came out. :-) https://www.susanenan.com/Index.aspx
It has an alternate take on SB&S which I prefer to the slower version played on RP... Unsure as to whether the RP version is a live recording or whether it's a single version. I should probably email her and ask. Or you can!
There must be 10-thousand girls in USA now, writing and singing this style!
You might be right. I mean statistically that has to happen once in a while.
But Susan Enan is English and sounds English, so right or wrong your comment is irrelevant once again.
make me laugh!!!
Human Anatomy Lesson #1 - revised: The humerus is a bone - and is generally skinny in most primates, but her upper arm does appear to be rather thin, which may also have some connection with the album title. As you pointed out, she could probably use a sandwich.
Ha ha, that's humerus!
it's Saturday morning. I'm dancing in the shower listening to this song! I have never been more optimistic of the state of the world than I am at this moment. Things are going to be just great.
ya know ..i really should thank the stars for you bubble-gummers. some days i'm better at it than others. unremarkable? blasting down the road 90 miles an hour - every bug on your windshield is unremarkable. if you were riding a bicycle, or walking.. you might notice some of those bugs are butterflies. and even as a butterfly, maybe it wasn't brilliant before it kissed your glass. but it was gentle ..and had grace
I want to read your novel. This is brilliantly written. Thanks!

Isn't that great! And at least 10% of them are wonderful, which makes us very lucky, indeed! (Actually, most are young women, however.)

Yep, more like filler ... not terrible, just unremarkable.

That would be a good power to have. Cool tune.
Godesslike.
What is this? Sad Americana-pop?

Yeah, but who's on first?
I like this mellow tune.

This is breezy and relaxing.
After quite a long time listening to both versions, I think I actually prefer the album version (on her album Plainsong - which is excellent, recommend it). The different tempo with different instrumentation still has a quite melancholy feel to it. Beginning to think Bill should put both in rotation...

Thanks for sharing. We're all concerned about your sleep cycle.
My friends hosted one too, it was fantastic! Great way to do a tour too :D
LOL

same track following Donna the Buffalo again. i think Bill's got us on a repeated list..
She has a wonderful voice though, so I aim to listen to more of her stuff.
Let's start with a Seven.
Yes!
Bill how about playing some Kate Rusby?
She looks like she could be the younger sister of Joanne Whalley-Kilmer The pic and poster below are from the 80s(I think):
I agree, with a little bit of Kate Beckinsale thrown in. Not a bad combination at all.
Yeah, don't know why the link from here does not work, but I went back to the main shop Amazon link on the RP page, clicked over to Amazon and bought it. Good stuff!
It was on the Paste Music Sampler III. I'm not sure if you could pick it up new but you might be able to find it used somewhere.

I second that request!

Sadly, she didn't have any CD's to sell there... but did say her album is almost done and will be available soon.
For her last song, she walked off stage and into the crowd completely unplugged with her acoustic guitar. The small crowd gathered around her for this special moment you rarely get to enjoy with an artist.
Thanks to RP for spinning this great song of hers. I would have never experienced that special night had I not heard of her here:)
I saw her, she opened for Over The Rhine when she was first starting out. She pkayed this and I liked it back then.
wow. interesting. i love Over the Rhine.
