It was war. Wake up, It's not pretty. What do you think Baptist or his officers would have done to Che?
The more I hear this, the more I like it!!! Thanx RP! I have always liked Chick Corea (since the '70s)!! And Bela Fleck is also great!!
Excellent!!! I have never heard this tune before.  Thanx RP!

Saw them tour together after this album came out, played at Symphony Hall here in Boston. It was a magical evening as I’ve admired both artists for years.

Perhaps, but just because you don't like a song doesn't mean the musicians should not have recorded it.
Hey...why not play some Chick Corea when he was with Return to Forever?

That was a killer jazz fusion band!!!
I kind of liked this song, but I have to admit I read this comment and chuckled, then I looked over to make sure it wasn't something I had once said while in a different mood.

Mind=blown. These two are both beyond masters of their instruments, but to hear them together pushing each other. Where does Chick find those scales?

I actually saw Chick and Bela perform together last year at the Moab Music Festival.  They were quite engaging and funny as well as being incredibly talented musicians.  I admit that music such as this is an acquired taste and certainly not my first choice as a concert to attend, but to see these two play together certainly was something special.

Never noticed this until today, but parts of the bass and piano in this sound like parts of Choctaw Bingo (James McMurtry)!

Just seriously cool.
Saw them together in Nashville 3-22-13.  A performance that was as good as it gets.
This is seriously cool, and follows on beautifully from Duke Ellington's Caravan.
One of the things that has drawn me to this station is the range of musical influences that are drawn together in a thoughtful manner. This is a first-rate example of a couple of virtuosi working together to bridge genres. They actually have much in common in their influences. I understand that the banjo is not an instrument that is to everyone's taste but please let's have more understanding of musicality.

One of my professors had been a lawyer in Cuba.  He was assigned to these kangaroo courts as a public defender.  He told us about the process once: he'd meet his "client" for the first time on the day of the trial.  The trial lasted ten or fifteen minutes, and would invariably end in a guilty verdict and sentence of death.  The "client" and his lawyer would go through a door to the court of appeals, where the lawyer got a whopping five minutes to argue for the man's life.  The trial court judgment would be affirmed almost immediately, sometimes even before the five minutes was up.  At that point, the guards took the "client" out another door, to the open-air courtyard where the firing squad awaited.  Some of my professor's "clients" were former Batista regime officials, some were just poor schmucks who'd gotten on the wrong side of Guevera or someone else in the "People's Revolution" who had some pull.

My professor had been a law-school classmate of Fidel and a supporter of the revolution, but he was so sickened by this "process" that he got his family off the island at first opportunity and never looked back.  Was rather strongly opposed to the death penalty, too, for entirely understandable reasons.

A few years ago I saw these two in concert.
I bought the tickets not expecting much, primarily to see Chick Corea... didn't know much about Bela Fleck.
This in not my normal taste in music but I was absolutely blown away with the concert.
{#Beat} What idiotic comments.

You'd think on Radio Paradise that there would be more folks who actually appreciated music and understood the difference between bluegrass and jazz, Americana form, new and hybrid, traditional...oh never mind.....

{#Frustrated}
I wonder can Bill tell if listeners switch stations? The chart of "most switched tunes" would be interesting - and this would be close to the top for me. Sorry to be a hateah.

Seen "Deliverance" too many times? And Bela "does" Banjo. Period. Doesn't matter what the genre of music you want to give it. Love it. pbm
Wow, RTF is going on tour.
Lots of good YouTubes with Chick Corea & Bela Fleck, great performances. Saw one with those two plus Al Jareau scat singing the jazz piece they all did-- sublime, beautiful and amazing.

perfect sound right now as the day winds down...giving me some energy for round 2 of my day!
I am stoked! I added this song, and I am glad it has been well received...that said, I am going to see Bela Fleck on February 27th! I have been waiting a long time for this.

That was amazing! I saw them at the North Sea Jazz festival and talked to Bela afterwards. He is such a serious and modest guy! Just proud to be playing with these legends. The music was awesome, technically brilliant, but beautiful as well
This is just as much jazz as it is bluegrass. And much better than whatever "erkkk" is supposed to mean. joanie wrote:

Caught it this time around, excellent!
Wonderful! This CD arrived at my house last week. Children's song#6 (one of my favorites) is another standout. As is Brazil.. Bela sounds a little lost on some of the cuts. Chick's flow around his stuff sounds more natural. Guess Chick's got a few miles on Bela. :) Sarah

Many of those Che had shot had done little or no wrong, but were related to those who were against the revolution, or related to the Batista government. From 14 year olds to old folks, it didn't matter to him. I find it mildly amusing that most of those here in the USA, who now idolize this slime bag, would have been many of those he'd have put against the wall.
what a great tune, true mastery.
