Her love rains down on me easy as the breeze
I listen to her breathing, it sounds like the waves on the sea
I was thinking all about her, burning with rage and desire
We were spinning into darkness; the earth was on fire

She could take it back, she might take it back someday

So I spied on her, I lied to her, I made promises I cannot keep
Then I hear her laughter rising, rising from the deep
And I make her prove her love for me, I take all that I can take
And I push her to the limit to see if she will break

She might take it back, she could take it back some day

''Ring a ring o' roses,''
''A pocket full of posies,''
''Atishoo, atishoo,''
''We all fall down...''[[#Notes|1]]

Now I have seen the warnings, screaming from all sides
It's easy to ignore them and God[[#Notes|2]] knows I've tried
All of this temptation, it turned my faith to lies
Until I couldn't see the danger or hear the rising tide

She can take it back, she will take it back some day

She can take it back, she will take it back some day

She will take it back, she will take it back some day

A definite Pink Floyd classic.  Such a shame this never got much recognition back in the 1990s.  Too many people going for Smashing Pumpkins and Blind Melon instead, I guess.
Awesome. Want to make me listen to the whole album again!
Is this from the Re-mastered version!  Sounds very different from the CD I have or have I fogotten how good this CDAlbum is - note IS and not 'was'!
I don't think I've ever heard this before. It kinda slaps.
This is one of those tracks where the lyrics displayed on the Apple TV app contains visible HTML markups. Just to let Bill know :-)

marginal AT BEST...  no, I take it back...  this sucks!

You can't even be arsed to spell his name correctly, even though it's in the next panel over.
As valid a Pink Floyd album as any of them. One of my faves, very few i dislike, first album and the DSOTM out takes album come to mind.
Just another thought... Chicago, Crosby Stills Nash Young, Journey, Grateful Dead-- all had changes in members and musical styles over the years...

I never really considered this to be Pink Floyd. Maybe Floyd Lite.

Just because you can put a flower pot on your head...doesn't make it a hat.

It can be a Devo though!!!

Gave the song an 8.  Everyone would be going on and on about how awesome this song is...except that it gets disregarded because it doesn't have Waters ranting and raving on it.
...epic...
Pink Floyd phoning it in...
Sounds to me like an early U2 influence.
Why oh why is this NOT in my iTunes...every other album of theirs that I have is!!!
Finally! A Floyd song i dislike!
(grew tired of giving all those 8+'s..)
as a die-hard Pink Floyd fan...meh
I've covered a lot of ground listening to the Division Bell, this is one of the stand out songs for me. I really enjoy it. For me, the theme running through seems to be loss & subsequent, positive, regeneration and rejuvenation.

you hear this and think "nice little formula based pop song", then realize it's pink floyd and go "oh..."

What a delight to hear this on RP! One of my favorites off of Division Bell, which I sadly haven't played in years.

Agreed!
Thanks for taking me back to college {#Tongue} and remembering seeing them in Birmingham, AL, in '94.

Don't care who it sounds like.

I like this song very much.

Actually, this is refreshingly unpretentious, given some of the so-called "men" in the catalog, the younger men being much more pretentious than the old.

Actually if there is one word for whatever drum set-up this song uses it's "pretentious."

This is something I've recently noticed too, even though I've owned this CD since it was released.  I know that Gilmore has his own history of tasty delay effects (see: Run Like Hell), but this seems to be a nod to the Edge.
Great song.  The song after this on the disc, Coming Back to Life, is an awesome bookend with more great guitar work.

Damn kids, running on my lawn again!  {#Arghhh}

It's Edge-y all the way through.  The whole song reminds me of some other song...which one is it?? "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For".  That's it.

please, put it back...
to where it belongs: music trash bin 4ever..
I had this on cassette, and I SO need to get it on CD, or maybe get my music-guru to send it to me on MP3.  I love this song... David Gilmour has done some clunkers in his day, but to me, this is NOT one of them.  It's good to hear it on RP, since my cassette seems to have vanished...
My 1st PF '6' rating....still a terrific CD...
No.

Lame.

I wonder who has my copy of this one,,oh well, off to iTunes.

I thought this was the Alarm before pulling it up. The vocals are eerily similar.

First, second, who gives a rip.  What, are you in junior high?

As far as the music goes, a highly underrated album IMO.
...just gorgeous - i've always heard this song as a sequel of sorts to one slip...

Not a *bad* song, but a child among men in the PF catalog.
