Twas years before I connected Hugh with Sal on the X-Games.

I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell!

You can NEVER have enough cowbell...

I got to see Hugh Masakela at the tiny Sellersville theater in PA in 2014 - absolutely mind-blowing performance from Hugh and that incredible band!  He was about 75 years old and absolutely gave his all (singing,  blowin the horns, dancing, carousing) for 3 hours.  I´ll never forget it...

RIP Brother!

Wonderful!!!

Those laws should be illegal!!!

Holy cow! That cow bell GIF works perfectly at the right moments. Good visual aid.
RP has only ONE TUNE by him on the playlist.  PLEASE ADD MORE!!  Thank You!
Everyone in my kitchen is banging on the pots and pans. We be cooking and jamming out.
GREAT TUNE!!  I was 13yrs old when this came out. NYC Top 10/ Top 40 AM radio stations used to play it a lot.  Brings back good memories. Thanx RP!

Those cows just keep on grazing!

LOL!
This was a NYC AM radio station jingle back in the 60s/70s. Can't listen to this without thinking of that.

Need to play this song for my sister on her ranch in Mayook (BC, Canada, right at the foot of the Rocky Mountains) next week when I go up to visit and hide from covids, see if it pulls in the bovids.  Afraid I might need to order in new glazing for the ranch house.

That comment deserves a 10 -- or at least a thumbs up -- for the covids-bovids wording.  (And it's yet another comment where it makes NO SENSE that anyone would give a thumbs down.  SMH)

i love this tune!!🌹🪂
Cool jam!  One of those songs that sounded pretty good even from all the tinny little transistor radios that seemed to be blaring it everywhere back then!
Has just enough cowbell.
Haven't heard this in forever. Thank you.

Cow Bells are Waaaaaay underappreciated, in my opinion.
I have one. It didn't come with a cow. I feel I got screwed.

I heard this piece so many times on the radio when young that either your country is not the US, or you lived in somewhere like, where? I don't know if in the 60s there were parts of this country that never played contemporary music, but probably this was the case. Honestly, I got tired of hearing this piece it was played so often. Cleveland area. Maybe your era was later, in which case, time is on my side (yes it was).
ANALYZING COWBELL LEVEL . . . . . . . Adequate.

PROCESSING . . . . . . .Done.

RECOMMENDATIONS . . . . . . . . . Additional cowbell recommended.
I wonder who decided when there was enough cowbell to pause, resume, pause resume. Perfection.

MORE COWBELL... can't have enough cowbell. :-)
Less cowbell!

Inspiration for J. Giles Band "Give It To Me" perhaps?

WMEX in Boston (1510 AM) and no doubt many stations nationwide utilized this tune ubiquitously for fade out station breaks and pre-news intros.

Perfect. RIP Hugh.

both versions make me think summertime in the 60s
I swear this was on a Ramsey Lewis record my mom listened to all the time.
Did Sly and the Family Stone do this?
He was considered the father of S. African Jazz but unfortunately passed away Jan. 2018.
His piece 'Stimula' (Hope) was what brought him to my attention. Maybe Bill will play it for us sometime.
The Friends Of Distinction did a better version.
It's awesome.
Fits RP better also.
more cowbell
Joyful noise.  Saw him with the Paul Simon Graceland tour way back when.  Amazing.

MORE COWBELL!  {#Dancingbanana_2}
I think we're going to have to confiscate that cowbell.
I actually like the "Hippie Version" better - The Friends of Distinction
Right on!

There just isn't much room left to add any more cowbell.

Yes, I prefer this version to the later Friends of Distinction version (where their singer added on lyrics), but they are both great — just different grooves.  This is smooth and cool.
Joyful! Wore out my vinyl copy of  years ago.
Train bell?
I think The Friends Of Distinction version is 100 time better

It's been years since I've heard this.
I put my pants on one leg at a time like everyone else. But once my pants are on I make Gold records. Now give me some cowbell!!!!
I got a fever....and the only pre-SCRIPT-ion....is the cowbell
Cowbells, we need more cowbells ! Great song....takes me back to the summer of...... well, I won't say, but it was quite a few years ago. Been a great morning on RP. Thanks Bill.
I must be playing it too loud. I have cows hitting the window here.
Very good, an inspired inclusion but Amazon don't seem to have the 68 album. Never mind.
