This is from the Lash's solo album, after the band broke up.  {#Cheesygrin}
Pretty surprising to me that so many people find this sweetass dancy irish modern folk so boring.  I can well imagine hearing this at a pub raising me elbow to a bonny lass and skipping off to the dance floor.
What happened to Rum, Sodomy and?
Was good until the singing started.
:::started to leave a comment about song, but fell asleep at keyboard:::

Don't really like the singing, but a catchy little musical bridge.
I Prefer my Lash with Rum & Sodomy
The singer's voice reminds me a lot of Dan Fogelberg
HO HUM- Insert: DROPKICK MURPHYS, The State Of Massachusetts

This song needs some serious relent.
Whoa, didn't see that coming!
These kids are no Pogues, I can tell you that.

Too funny...yet somehow sums it up nicely.
A mediocre effort. Thursday night at Bennigan's. Uninspired and foot dragging, at least until the end. Where are the traditional roots?

The instruments bring out my British/Scottish/Irish music blood . . . Read the comment disparaging the singing--but I hadn't even heard any singing. Interesting. Will listen out for it next time around.
This is a joke right?
Hard to get into this, wish they'd play some Emerald Rose - far more enjoyable celtic music for me.
For me it's the sound of penny whistles and the like that drive me absolutely bonkers. Can't hit the mute button fast enough whenever I hear "celtic-sounding" music. canadave wrote:

Exchange the vocals for someone with a little balls and I kind of like this. It would be interesting to hear some input from across the Atlantic.
Don't usually like the Irish-jiggy songs, but this one is real good. Kind of rock-jig.
Up from 6 to 7. Don't play it too much tho...
Maybe after a few pints . . .
This song is a lucky one.
I like the visual of fairies dancin' and then King Kongs' foot crushing....
Uninspired/Uninspiring
AWESOME.

it's called step-dancing.

Wow. You could really dance a jig to the end of this. But careful, just like soccer, you cant use your arms!!!

I guess it's that time of year- from now until the 17th we have to endure this stuff. OK- well I guess if we have to how about some Martin Hayes- the real stuff instead of this stuff.
i like the irish feel, and most internatonal-esque music. solid 9.

Never heard this one before - I do like it, not quite sure why, maybe because it puts me to mind of fairies.
Dude, listen to the last refrain. It IS twice as fast. And still doesn't go anywhere. Daniel_Pittenger wrote:

If there's a video to this song, it should be little fairies flying around playing flutes. And then in the middle of it, they get crushed by King Kong's foot.

Yeah. Damn that inflation... Anyone here bets that Fitty Cent has to change his name in a few years due to inflation? (geeky laugh)
Nice & snappy, like the bass.
I tend to like anything even vague Celt-ish. 7
aaaw, I was hoping by the title it'd be a remake of "(YOU're) The Lucky One" (last covered by Krauss?) with a sweet accordian solo... As it is, too early for ale songs.
I love the genre, and it makes a good follow-up to Solas, but there's not really any emotion there. Kinda dry. Hmm... as I type that, it picks up. Not bad.
I was in the mood for this song today... I love me some sea shanties this afternoon!
It's killing me. Get it OFFFFFFFFF????>>>>>>!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...heard 1001 times! Bores me! One hears the boys can play, are pro's, but....it just doesn't touch me! Stingray!
This -totally- hit my buttons this morning. Yay good desktop speakers and working from home!

This made me think of a show my grandma used to watch all the time - a variety show hosted by the Irish Rovers. I think it was a Canadian show. True enough. (click here) I somewhat vaguely remember it. Sort of. That and The Beachcombers
this song sucks
Awesome! Cheers!

Everytime I hear this I think "Oh wow a new String Cheese Incident song cool." and then no, it turns out to Lash.

In the hands of an accomplished artist, the music from those very few fingerings available is absolutely amazing!
I LIKEY a LOT
Really like this one! The different rhythms between the verses and the chorus are very cool..the ending is a nice touch as well.
Meghan you're crazy mad w/ the smileys yo... You're one bad mother... shut yur mouth
Love this song. First heard on RP months ago!
Singer reminds me of Alpha Blondy without the power but more flexibility

Now let's hear The Decemberist's "The Mariner's Revenge Song" and, to funky it up, "Blueberry Boat" by Fiery Furnaces. A straight 16 minutes it probably a bit much to devote to 2 songs though. :)
How to make my day 2:24 am - The Lash - The Lucky One 2:20 am - Solas - Clothes Of Sand 2:16 am - Heather Nova - Gloomy Sunday 2:12 am - Kate Bush - The Big Sky What a line-up! what a good quality of music! what joy! THANK YOU!

Go back and reread it. They weren't saying RP is kind of cool. The complete thought being conveyed is the song kind of has a pirate sound like RP is kind of cool, meaning there's no "kind of" about it: this song defnitely has a pirate sound and RP is defnitely is cool. I wish people would take the time to thoroughly read and think about posts before replying. Would save a lot of misunderstanding and ruffled feathers around here. MT

Since you can't get it at Amazon (and therefore can't help out RP via referral commission), the album "Every Direction" can be found at: (click here)
Just 'cause no one else thought of it: The Lash: :whip:
please don't play this anymore. thanks.
I really like this. Super-catchy and possibly cheesy....but I like it anyway!
