I thought of you in blue and red
I thought of you when you were playing
I thought of you in my bed
You were there bound and chained
I thought of you there next to me
Wearing your pretty face
I thought of everything that you could be
Sleeping in the devil's bed
I looked for you when the lights were low
Snd I paid for what I had
I looked for you way down below
Till I felt I was going mad
I think of you when I tell myself
And the fever rises high
I think of you and I get what's coming
Sleeping in the devil's bed
Oh why, why, why, why, baby, why?
Oh why, why, why, why, why, why, baby, why?
I thought of you up there on the ladder
I thought of you when I heard the news
I thought of you and it didn't matter
If I accepted you'll refuse
I wanted you and I wanted more
I wanted everything
I wanted what I couldn't get
Sleeping in the devil's bed
In the devil's bed
I woke up in the steady rain
I woke up when you said
It's late and I'm feeling heavy
Could you hold my aching head?
I found myself tangled in wire
I found you there in my dream
I found you in desire
You had left the devil's bed
You had left the devil's bed
Oh, baby, why?
You had left the devil's bed
I thought of you when you were playing
I thought of you in my bed
You were there bound and chained
I thought of you there next to me

This song is also on his 2nd solo album (For the Beauty of Wynona)
great song from an all-around fine soundtrack
Sounds so much like a Bob Dylan tune..
Lovely song, and part of a very solid soundtrack compilation. I've seen the movie just once: I've always thought the first half was solid, the second half was a bit of a letdown.
Don't forget the wicked wild raging axe killer Tom Morello on the right. Did Lanois ever produce a Rage Against the Machine collection?

The song Back Where U Belong was written by Sinead and Produced by Danel for the film The Water Horse .
Very Dylanistic with a touch of Willie (able to carry a note)!
Geez...this must be a Bob Dylan lost relative.
Gorgeous! wow, the Wender's film is as good as the contributing soundtrack musicians
Me like muchey - thanks to RP I became aware of this album and purchased it - very very wonderful.
Not my taste!

It made me smile - Dan is doing well recovering and back working on the next Neil Young album...

I thought of you when I was insomniac, and you succeeded where a flock of jumping sheep had failed
Are you tracking the flock or the individual sheep?
Best wishes to Daniel, who was recently injured in a motorcycle accident.
Is it possible to sound like Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan at the same time?
Well, yes, apparently it is.

"OMFG!!! These people of Sony Music do not have anything more useful to do for the Community of music?
It's a simple interview!!!! LMAO
Would love to hear (much) more DL on RP!
Need to hear more from For the Beauty of Wynonna, from whence comes Sleeping in the Devil's Bed.
Should watch the movie.

A great song from my favorite compilation soundtrack of all time.

He's got the older Nick Lowe timbre to his voice on this one.

love love love this movie
Well, that was very pleasant.
Almost like two movies instead of one.
I agree 100% with that statement. It starts out like a crime caper and then does a 180 and turns into a surreal psychological drama. Very odd movie that can't seem to decide what it wants to be. The soundtrack is just amazingly good though
Perhaps if i felt better i could deal with this...it cuts to close at the moment...hits the heart.
mew mew mew...this kitty wants to go home!
I think we've all slept in the Devils bed..I know I have
Great to hear Lanois. more more more! Lots of good stuff on SHINE Album.

Yes, brilliant soundtrack. But I have it on good authority that the movie isn't worth two hours of your life. (I haven't seen it, myself.)
So good I actually sat through it twice. Almost like two movies instead of one.
I've slept in that bed ..left me feeling burned out and reflective. Think I know better now
so nice to hear Daniel Lanois on RP!
My favourite CD is the Acadie.

It's clear he produced Time Out of Mind (and other Dylan albums)! Almost an imitation, but fantastically done.
I was thinking that Bill would follow this with Dylan's Shelter from the Storm. There are places where Lanois sounds an awful lot like Dylan in this song. Shelter in the Devil's Bed...

I love the soundtrack, too. I tried to watch the movie based on the soundtrack, for how could such a great soundtrack be part of a bad movie? I thought. I was so much younger then, I'm older than that now, but the movie just did not work for me. Read what Roger Ebert thought here: https://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/19920117/REVIEWS/201170304/1023 and try watching it. But for me, Ebert was dead on.

FANTASTIC transition... Iron and Wine right into this... oh, and now Billy Bragg!! Awesome.
A great song from my favorite compilation soundtrack of all time.

OK...so you have never actually seen the film (albeit the cut version), but you are willing to comment on it just the same. I too am anxiously awaiting the full release on DVD, but even the "watered-down" version is stunning.
That's all I have to say about that.
Then maybe I should check it out! Princlples are so hard to keep, really, very draining. I'd hate to seem like I'm impugning your integrity by speaking out against a film I've never seen, so I'll admit that you're probably right, and that even a butchered Wenders film is superior to 90% of the dreck currently out there. However, if the uncut version is as close to seeing the light of day as I suspect, I'm still going to wait for it and watch it for the first time in that format. BTW, I think you probably have VERY good taste. Don't let anyone tell you differently.

Your good authority is correct. Wim Wenders created a haunting, inspired epic that lasted almost 5 hours, and the studios cut it down to an incomprehensible 2. I have it on good authority that Wenders has been wrestling with the studio for ten years but is on the verge of releasing the original version (5 hours!) on DVD. I've never seen the film, not once, and don't intend to until I can get my hands on the director's cut. All you LOTR fans know EXACTLY where I'm coming from.
But the soundtrack rocks!!!

BEST
SOUNDTRACK
EVER...
BELIEVE IT!
Why are you sitting there, not buying this soundtrack online? WHAT? You're eating? And breathing?? STOP! Buy this soundtrack! You think I'd lie to you? IS THAT WHAT YOU THINK? Well, that hurts. Maybe after you listen to this CD, you will apologize for thinking that. Only one way to find out. BUY THIS SOUNDTRACK.
I thought he sounded like the singer from Tito and Tarantula.
