I get enough DM on the radio around here. Then to hear him twice in a couple of hours on RP is too much. I agree that he is overrated and overplayed. IMO, he's just the latest in the fad of irritatingly mellow, subdued formula pop. :?

I bet you'd be pretty hard pressed to find another "rock star" with this sort of outlook. Anyway, I guess we all take our inspiration wherever we can get it, so I will continue to listen to (and learn from,) Carter and a slew of other drummers from different times and places.

Extreme no 1:You must enjoy anything that gets mainstream air time. Extreme no 2:You must loathe anything that gets mainstream air time. It's a shame if anything gets played to death, but when you only judge a song by where it gets played then you're gonna miss out.

Not to fan the consistent flames of negativity but, this song is depressingly bad. The orchestral crescendo at the end is especially laughable and desparate.

Awesome song from the best Dave Matthews album yet. This song in peticular really grows on you, as does the whole album. The string arrangement and orchestration at the end of the song is brilliant! Dave just keeps getting better and better.

Some Devil = teh suck :( I miss the old DMB -- Crash, even Before These Crowded Streets were terrific... the Luther College album has some great stuff too (though it can't properly be called a "solo" effort, Tim Reynolds is amazing).

The song's just... eh. Not atrocious, but certainly nothing great. The thing that bugs is just how often it gets plaid on RP. Enough already!

I'm a defenite DM fan, but this is far from his best work.

I like Dave and DMB in general, though I am not familiar with all of their work. The ending to this song just didn't do it for me, causing me to drop my original rating.

I am not a DM fan but that song was great, maybe i will become a DM fan.

I really dig this album. I also have no problem with the frequency of DM being played here...it's funny that I like pretty mich every single song that Bill plays (that you!)...some of you more critical folks need to ease up a bit and "enjoy the music!" No offense is intended...I just dont understand the amount of negative comments...and not just on DM stuff...I thought a station like this would be listened to by music lovers... Sean

I either love or hate DM, on a per-song basis, and this is one that is beginning to fall into the love column.

Here's someone who refines OVER-RATED. Please do not play him anymore. This is what mainstream radio is for. :roll: :roll:

I have never listened to a lot of DM and I do like this song. Perhaps I'm not fried on commercial radio like some on this board seem to be. I just said no. I suppose "Thanking A God" that I have an extensive music collection and sources like RP would be in order here.

It's too bad he has such a stigma with some people... this album does have qualities of goodness to it... I think he is trying to add to his credibility by playing with some repected musicians (Trey and Ray Pazckowski, Tony Hall, Brady Blade of Spyboy, and Tim Reynolds, of course), and putting out an album that doesn't sound a whole lot like DMB. Not to be presumptuous, but maybe I can speak for those people who got really into DMB in high school or college. (I am now 27.) He was great then, with a refreshing and infectious sound. Years later, though, his sound, I believe, is tired and played out. I know people my age who are still fanatical about him, and I just don't understand it. Maybe it's just me, but there aren't that many bands that I was really into back in college (i.e., Phish, Allman Bros., Jayhawks, Widespread, etc.) that I still love with the same fervor or even tolerate now -- I grew out of most of them (especially the jam bands, which just keep doing the same old thing) and moved on to what I think are much more interesting bands and sounds.

I don't know. You either like Dave, or you don't. This tune reminds me of the CD "Before These Crowded Streets," my favoirte from his band... Only this one doesn't have the instrumental sounds of that album. I kinda like this darker sounding side of Dave, just as I did with that album. It DOES seem like more work went into this than the last few things that his band just kinda threw together. Not too band for a solo venture. I'd like to hear some of the other tunes.

I'm torn, i'm torn... I love Dave Matthews, but I tend to agree that there's a bit too much of him on RP. HOWEVER! In comparison to commercial radio stations, a particular artist gets played 14 times a day, and that's usually just one song. If it's too much for you, you can just run your own online radio station and play as much or as little of him as you want!! At least one can hear a variety of Dave Matthews (and his band) on RP with NO commercials. And nowhere else on earth (except maybe on my harddrive) would you be able to hear Dave matthews followed by Beethoven. How about some more classical on RP (in moderation, of course)? :-({|=
