Whoa, my love
My darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time

And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?

I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me

Lonely rivers flow to the sea, to the sea
To the open arms of the sea
Lonely rivers sigh, "Wait for me, wait for me
I'll be coming home, wait for me"

Whoa, my love
My darling
I've hungered, hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time

And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?

I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me

This is my first 10/10 rating.

your comment just made me bump it to a 10.
RP has only ONE TUNE by them on the playlist.  PLEASE ADD MORE TUNES!!  Thank You!
This is one of those songs for which a rating of 10 just isn't high enough.
Just beautiful.
Nice melody, but it sounds a bit, I don't know, "chained" I guess.

"Unchained Melody" is a 1955 song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. North wrote the music as a theme for the prison film Unchained (1955),[1] hence the song title.

Who knew? Apparently the movie was forgettable...

Heh.  I just pulled up the comments section to ask where the title came from.  Thanks for your prescient post.

Aww, I wish this got played more, I really love this song.  Possibly influenced by the movie Ghost...

Yes, play this song more often, we gators want more Righteous Brothers....
Music and song = probably no better than an 8
Musical artifact and social marker = (to me, who was 10 on its release) that's at least a 12

Magnificent!!!

It certainly helps to define CRESCENDO.

Sappy but sincere.  In '65 this was approaching the last days of that type of sound. I was 10 years old then and really dug it.

I was only born in 65 but my folks loved this music and kept a pretty good collection of the records. They're gone but I still love this for all of us.

Excellent song, brilliantly sung - only 1 'brother'?
Years ago I listened to an interview with these guys. More than once, they showed up at the gig and discovered they were not welcome. Why? The clubs assumed from their name 'The Righteous Brothers' and sound, they were black. Imagine their surprise when a couple clean cut white guys walked in! One of the Brothers, quoting one of the club owners "Naw man, that $hit ain't gonna work."

Amazing segue from Prelude to Cello Suite #1 by Bach.

This doesn't (I.M.H.O.) fit in with the rest of RP's (mostly excellent!) music selection... This is THE one song that gets sung in cheap karaoke bars by people who think they can (but mostly can't) sing. This is not eclectic. This is just irritating. Plz drop this one.

If this was a jukebox I would put in a nickle and played it again at maximum volume.

Yeah, schmaltzy. By now, cliched, and synonymous with an entertaining if cheesily romantic movie. But the producer, while at the time of this '64ish recording was an incipient nut job, had also quickly become a real force in the record business. Phil Spector was developing his unique and evocative sound layering and worked with late-era Beatles collectively, and later separately with George Harrison, John Lennon and the Ramones. Anything he produced that's played here -- or even howled in crappy karaoke bars -- is a direct link to deep-dish American musical history.
