I didn't know it was home until you left.

so nice ๐Ÿ‘
Started at 6. Bumped to 7. Songwriting.
Very James Taylor did it better. But kudos folks, itโ€™s a nice ditty ๐Ÿพ
love the album cover/title combo... very evocative
Nice!

Completely agree. Some of his songs are masterpieces of wordplay, rhyme, storytelling, theme and plain heartfelt pain and joy.

That's cute.

Wow.
This is a pretty gutsy song. He puts it all out there.
I suppose I should comment on a song or two. Josh Ritter is great. Saw him at a small club in Portland Maine. Better in person.
For what its worth.
why had i never heard of Josh Ritter until tuning into RP? he's really terrific.

More than 3 notes in the vocals would make this a bit more interesting, Josh. 3 from the somnolent Nottingham jury {#Sleep}
Great cover shot. That scene looks vaguely familiar . . .
{#Kiss} Yes
I saw Josh Ritter in Austin a while back and he was fantastic live. (And kind of adorable.)
I thought I didn't like Josh Ritter, but after hearing this song I think I'll have to rethink that position. Maybe I just don't like his current album.

Is this copy working at top quality? It sounds like a mid-range cone has been punched out. Really rattled/gravelly. Maybe I'm special today and no one else hears it?
Josh is a local boy (Beantown). I think this was his first CD. Low budget recording.
some subtle connection to an Elliot Smith phrasing in that delay on the chorus, my first time hearing this tune, it is certainly very smooth and gentle, even soothing maybe. the Elliot Smith thing was my first thought at the first chorus. a solid tune.
I like most of this song, except the chorus seems to drag too much compared to the verses. I want to yell "spit it out, boy". Maybe its just me, which is fine too.
Have you heard his song "Thin Blue Flame"? What a powerful, meaningful song. I haven't been blown away by a song the way that one did in years.
This song perked up my ears... very lovely.

Heard him do this live as an a-capella duet with the lead singer of The Frames. Fantastic.

What he/she said. :nodhead:
Can't help it...when this first started, my first thought was... "I knew a man, Bojangles..."

Hmm.... I have a copy of this song floating around, but it's just Josh and a guitar. I hear drums & piano and maybe bass in this version... is this the album version, an alt single version, etc. ? Comments?
On his website it's called the "Jackdrag Remix" It's been included on a couple harder to find releases. Bonus disc on Golden Age of Radio among others. Check out his website store to track it down...

I found him! He was in bed in his PJ's still.
I recall this song was on the soundtrack of Six Feet Under awhile back when Nate and Lisa were having one of their poignant scenes. Although I had known of the song for awhile prior to that, I now indelibly link the two.

beautiful track. we need to hear more Josh Ritter on RP already, imho.
i just walked in the room and i like

Do you think we should wake him up before we record next time?

Great song...
Ritter's voice is tuneless, and so is the "tune." He must hold a record for reuse of one note! How did he ever get a recording contract? The instruments would have been fine *alone.* :(
I dig him. Sweet sound.

nice.
I KNEW that RP would be playing Josh soon! I heard him for the first time last spring opening for Jimmie Dale Gilmore in Pawling, NY and have been a big fan since. (And every woman I\'ve taken to hear him, my wife included, thinks he\'s a major dreamboat. If you have a chance to see him live, don\'t miss it.
