I live near Gweedore. The family runs a pub there; you can see gold and platinum records of Clannad and Enya all over the walls. Moya has worked tirelessly to help up and coming performers in Co. Donegal; you can hear fabulous live music there regularly.

As with Enya, you can really hear the landscape here in their music.  There's something truly magical about this part of the world.

Have been in the pub 2 yrs ago for a b-day party. Great location.
Seen the band twice.  Absolutely magical.
I discovered this tune/band years ago, as I imagine others did as well, from its placement at the beginning of the U2 Live at Red Rocks video. Still great. Lovely and haunting.
sublime music
If you get a chance to see the series "Harry's Game" do. It will knock your socks off.
I've seen Clannad last time in Mainz Germany, became much older... but all still allive, and they made such beautiful pieces of music. Still love Clannad!

Agree, I go to west Donegal every year since 1989. In love with the place
Memories of home.. Sweet home.
Immediate memories of U2 at Red Rocks... that stormy, wet, cold, Colorado summer day

For me it is too softwashed. No fascinating Charaker. It is boaring and has not to be played in this very very good Radiostation.Pit from Bavaria

It is GREAT that you ARE NOT IN CHARGE!!   If you do not like it, hit the SKIP BUTTON!  ...PROBLEM SOLVED!

The hooded man!
Ca sera toujours associé, pour moi, à un concert magique de U2.

Superbe chanson.

Opening song before early U2 concert performances.  Can be heard at the beginning of "Live at Red Rocks."
Makes my top 50 overplayed tracks.
Saying that it's been a while since I've heard it and it still sounds great. It started it's own genre really, and I have a soft spot for Gaelic music from many sources. Enya, Clannad, Runrig, Cappercailie, Horslips and even U2. Add some Uilleann  Pipes aa well and I'm happy.
Reminds me so much of the 19U2's LOL

It shaped my taste of music, only for this reason is it a 10 for me.

Outstanding, just Outstanding!
Yep! They came to KC two days after that...saw it front row. And still recall this song from that night. It just worked!

U2 had this as their "premusic" to "Live at Red Rocks" - I've always had a soft spot for Clannad as a result. "Macalla" is a wonderful record.

Now I'll have to check and see whether I still have this CD!

nice....
Beautiful song, from what I recall was a pretty good TV series about IRA infiltration in the early 80's.
Celtic hymns?    Naaa, just some clever 80s synth folk/pop.
So this is what Saltwater from Chicane is based on :p

This is a great band - very Celtic. Maybe too Celtic for most but I remember Macalla being a hauntingly beautiful album. We should hear In a Lifetime with Bono.
