I am bumping this 14-year old comment to the top.  I do notice RP seems to be distancing itself from the 1970s in recent years, but I'd like to see some of these talented musicians get some airplay here, it doesn't need to be all about Supertramp and Pink Floyd.

Responding 17 years later. In the 70's a friend and I scoured the record stores for Consequences and eventually found it at Tower Records in NY.  The clerk was amazed someone knew about its greatness.  I own a copy of all G and C albums including Goodbye Blue Sky.   The first side of the Snack Attack (Ismism outside the US)  is one of the best musically flowing album sides and also one of the weirdest collection of lyrics.

On the strength of their fantastic singles I loaded my Spotify with as much 10CC as I could - But I have to say there's not much else that grabs me, and I've slowly been deleting quite a lot of it.

I went to see 10cc a couple of months ago as one of my artists was supporting them. I tried very hard to sit right through the gig to hear this as their finale, but 35 mins in we got up and went to the pub! Nothing worse than rockers who age badly...

I was a young'n when this song was released. It somehow eluded me for decades. First heard on SiriusXM Yacht Rock channel a few years ago. It's cult classic for me. I was really surprised to find out it was released so long ago, and I hadn't heard it until pretty recently.

Montego Bay (1978)......power outage. A local came up to us stating he could get us on our way back to the Holiday Inn for $20. Talked him down to $10. Alive to tell about it today.....lol. I have the feeling that blackouts were/are common down in "Marleyville." Chalk it up to the tourism trade.

Madness, The Police, and The Specials were all formed by 1976 or '77, before this record's 1978 release - but true, none of them were releasing records until later on.  I don't know if it can be asserted that this tune "ushered in" the British "2-Tone", ska revival of the late 70's.  Most of those guys were probably listening to Desmond Dekker or Prince Buster, not a relatively Top-40 act like 10CC.  This is a pretty good tune, though.

Superb!  10cc was one of the most talented bands of the 70s.  I saw them in concert at a small venue with excellent acoustics (Popejoy Hall at the University of New Mexico) in 1977 or '78 . . . it was one of the best performances I've ever seen.  Were there any other RPeeps there?

These guys had lots of great tunes; why choose this overplayed novelty song? How about "I'm not in love" for starters?

Wish we could hear more of 10cc and Godley & Creme on RP.  There's a multitude of talent in the original four: Graham Gouldman, Eric Stewart, Lol Creme and Kevin Godley. All four could sing lead, write, produce, and play multiple instruments. Bill, you really need to add more of their great material to RP.

It's also an age/perspective thing.

Awhile back, my mother-in-law (she was in her late 60s at the time) was researching her family history and was interviewing her aunts (late 80s / early 90s) about particular people no longer alive. What struck her was that her aunts kept referring to her as a "girl" :)
