She came in like an animal and left like an innocent child
Now I'm stranded on empty, across nation lines
Clear night like a rosary against a dashboard light
Driving to you, Riviera
How long can you run?
Now the moon and the pavement are like noon daylight
Smokestacks and the gambling signs along the black horizon line
I once had a sister like you, lost on the other side
You run because you have to, from the firing lines
Shot into you Riviera, how long can you run?
Ain't it strange how the ones you steal, they keep you alive
How she could make you feel like you never been high?
I can't remember what was real - like a killer in denial
Careful to conceal every last line leading to you, Riviera
I deliver to you- the Riviera! How long can you run?
If it wasn't for Bill playing this track today I'd never have known they existed.
Thanks to all at RP. ❤️
Same here!
very early tom petty like
Get rid of the delicious guitar tone, delete the dynamics and simplify the arrangement considerably...then the statement might be true.
I wrote this 7 years ago and since then I've come to love Big Head. I've bought 3-4 albums and lots of tracks. But this was the song where I really 'got it' for the first time.
One of my favorite bands! Highly recommend seeing them live!
Never watched MacGyver but I have to wonder whether these sort of Rube-Goldberg arrangements were the highlight of the show. Who needs a plot when you have a paperclip?
Ahh, Kyle MacDonald is my minor hero.

Indeed! Nicely put.
thank you Bill.
Ah, MacGyver thought of that long ago
MacGyver creates a distraction by building a mechanism in a church bell tower with two candles, a leather strap from the lady photographer's purse and some firecrackers. The strap holds a bell in the tower to one side. The clapper has a lit candle attached to it. The firecrackers are taped to the inner surface of the bell. The other candle is set up to burn through the strap. When it does, the bell is released, and the flame of the candle attached to the clapper contacts the firecrackers, igniting them. When they explode, the sound is amplified by the bell, and the guards in the street are distracte
Good story, but you do realise I was being figurative don't you ?!?
By the way what is MacGyver?

What you said. First time I heard this tune. There's a lot to be said for basic blues-rock, cleanly and artfully implemented. Like this!
So, how'd it go??
Indeed! Nicely put.
Nice turn of phrase.

Well, who am I to keep you down?
It's only right that you should play the way you feel it.
But listen carefully to the sound of your loneliness like a heartbeat,
drives you mad in the stillness of remembering what you had and what you lost,
and what you had, and what you lost. Thunder only happens when it's raining.
Players only love you when they're playing.
Women, they will come and they will go.
When the rain washes you clean, you'll know.

Yes, it does sound similar: the verse in both both tunes is a I - II progression (e.g. F - G or G - A), pretty commonly-used progression. The chorus here is a different progression than that of "Dreams".
I agree, You never hear anything about them!
Yes! June 11 @ Red Rocks....I'll be there to see Guster, but you are spot on !
Check out the video "Live at Red Rocks." You'll surely dig that.
Actually, Todd loves blues and was thinking of Eddie Vinson, whose nickname is Cleanhead, when they came up with the name. And "The Monsters" is sort of a send up to all the silly rock band names of the time.
But he is a tall guy!
See the history here: https://bigheadtodd.com/news/?view=timeline. You can listen to almost all their music for free on that site, too.
Thanks for playing the best band ever!
i believe i really, really like this!!
