Well you gotta see this, Golden thing
You golden thing,
And when you get there better kiss me
Garbage piled up to the ceiling
Ashtrays shaped like asses
All this money and a golden thing
You golden thing, Hell, I got
Horseheads that I dance around in
In coked up anorexics
Got a tree and this golden thing
You golden thing, Hell, I got
Well you gotta see this, Golden thing
You golden thing,
And when you get there better kiss me

Do I detect a hint of Bo Diddly beat?

Yep, definitely reminds me of Mary's Danish. That car song..."Don't Crash the Car Tonight."

Agree 100%. I've only seen them 2x but both were excellent shows; you described the vibe well.
Incredible band; I had the great fortune to see 'em 3 or 4 times back in the day. Live versions make this sound like easy listening. They were just fierce and pretty much tore the place apart. Nice folks, too.

Hey Mambo ...Mambo Italiano!!
Excellent!! Great sounding floor toms! My favorite drums!
Either I,m losing RP or it's losing me. I don't know if it's a good idea to play everything.
First concert without parental units - REM with Throwing Muses opening. Excellent show!
I always thought this was Siouxsie and the Banshees! Fun!

Agreed! And I don't think he had a crash symbol in his kit (he would use an open high-hat).
There can never be too much Throwing Muses...or Belly for that matter. And, David Narcizo's drumming may seem simplistic on the surface, however, I feel it's well thought out...and unique.

Radio in Paradise.
You kids rock!
10'ed it cause it fuckin' rocks (look up Ginger Coyote for some Punk History White Trash Debutantes - Wikipedia ) woo-hoooo!
Throwing Muses and Belly always bring me back to my teenage angsty days. What do teenagers angst to nowdays?

No. I guess The Runaways or The Slits could have that distinction.
Was this the first real, female punk band?

Bonnie Raitt + ZZ Top.
But worse.
But worse.
Gotta play Panic in Detroit after this as the perfect segue...or maybe even Golden Years. Bowie either way.
Tanya can Shred!! And Kristen is my favorite kind of rocker, complicated.
apologies to all for the comments below
musically, not my cup of coffee.
But why are my feet tapping and my head bobbing??

I kind of missed them when they were in their heyday...but any group with Kristen and Tanya Donnelly should have been gigantic
La la la golden rain...

Might I suggest writing your Representative and Senators; involve yourself in the process, don't spam an online music message board.

Perhaps you should go back to school and learn spelling, grammar, and manners.

Agreed about the 80's pop thing. My first thought was of the B-52's. Now why don't we hear more of them on RP. Anyway, I like. Rock-on RP!

Anyone heard Tanya's latest solo album, Whiskey Tango Ghosts? Spectacular. But it's a distant relativeof the Muses.....
This whole day has been filled with great songs from my design studio days. It feels like I have a critique coming up.
Phew - for a second there I thought this was that god awful "I want candy" song. I was about to punch my monitor.
Yep, still quality after all these years.

I'll differ from Knucklehead (appropriate!) this song does have a specialness, it was far more special in 1988 when there wasn't a huge rush to come up with a bunch of "chick bands". TM established themselves well as a viable band in my eyes. Wonder what Kirstens doing now??
Yep. I had the great fortune of being in Providence/Newport RI in 88-89 and was on the receiving end of all that specialness. Great band.
anyone else reminded of Mary's Danish
Sweet. Travelled down to london on the train and two nights later we had to do it again to see these guys. Still have the t-shirt. Still my fav TM album
Can't sit still when the Bo Diddley Beat comes on!

What the heck is "trendy" about a 12-year-old song?
