From the Washington Post (so you people who believe they are fake news or who have hit your paywall reads, don't have to click)

A report from Customs and Border Protection sent to reporters on Tuesday shows that 194 miles of wall have indeed been built — including primary walls and secondary walls that act as reinforcement systems. More to the point of Trump’s promise, only 16 miles of the 194 miles that have been constructed were built in places where fencing didn’t already exist. Of the 170 miles of primary wall that have been built, three miles are in places where no barrier existed before.

I think Mexico should refuse to pay until it is finished.

Instead he chose to appear on a fringe show with a relatively tiny audience hosted by a self-styled “outsider” who loves Donald Trump’s tweets almost as much as he loves railing against “the left”.

Again, my question to Trump supporters is "still?"

Promises made, promises kept?

"It’s day 1,222 of the Trump administration with 239 days left in his term. We’re tracking the progress of 60 pledges he made during his campaign — and whether he achieved his goals."

"Rather, the question is why so many of Trump’s working-class white male voters refuse to hold Trump to their own standards of masculinity—why they support a man who behaves more like a little boy."

No idea.  I would think it would be more exhausting than just gathering a few facts and trying to speak from a position on knowledge, but I guess it's old dog....new tricks.

I think it helps that his supporters never question statements and spin tiny fragments of possibility to provide wiggle room.  The Clorox advice included light, and if you turn your head 180 degrees, cover your left eye and breath in....you can find just enough truth in Vitamin D to make his advice solid.   It's just so much work instead of admitting a mistake and moving on.

The operative phrases in my post were “lies as a matter of course, about things big and small.”

So he runs on "drain the swamp", and when everyone finds out he's been not only NOT draining the water, but adding sewage, the supporters respond "they all do it".

Arguing is pointless.  We are a global punchline.

On the small side of the equation: Trump is again complaining — and lying — about his golfing compared to Obama’s. As a preface, let me say that I am not inclined to criticize presidents for taking breaks/vacations. They need it and deserve it. I typically do not agree with those who criticize the costs of these breaks or the need for them, be it Reagan’s trips to the Western White House or Obama’s vacations in Hawaii or Martha’s Vineyard. So,  normally, I would not criticize Trump for his golfing. However, Trump made golfing while in office an issue by repeatedly criticizing Obama for doing so — and Trump has done so before running for President, while running for President, and as President. He went as far as stating several times that he would not have time to golf as President because he would be working all the time. He makes golfing while in office an issue and then complains when he is criticized for doing so.

Obviously, all lies. But why? It works for him. Matter of course.

I do not care about his playing golf. I do care about his incessant lying about that and consequential matters, matters big and small.
