I can't watch Rockies games until 90 minutes after the final out, so I have to go all radio silence to avoid spoilers. But this made it through my defenses:

Giants start with a 10 spot

Watch live on MLB.TV: Brandon Belt's grand slam capped a 10-run first inning in the opener of a twin bill.

Shame you weren't today. You could have seen Kershaw make the shortest start of his career. The weather should be nicer in June though and the ivy will have finished coming in.

It came up in conversation last night so I watched No No: A Dockumentary again last night. It had been long enough that it was amazing again. Justine cried a couple of times. I thought it used to be on Netflix but it's on Prime now.

Of course I had to then pull up the animated clip of the famous No No;

And after that was over, it rolled into this from the same studio... I don't think I'd ever seen it:

The one I was a little late for had Kerry Wood and Mark Prior as the starters which made it pretty awesome.  Of course it was in 2005 which was not quite as awesome as it would have been a couple of years earlier.

I've been to two real double headers in Wrigley and one in Great American.  I was taken a little by surprise by one of the Wrigley ones too.  It was my first full season as an unemployed bum and I was determined to finally give baseball the attention it deserves.  My kid brother lived in Milwaukee then and Opening Day at Wrigley was against the Brewers so naturally I wanted to start the season out right and go.  Regrettably by the time I got a chance to get tickets Opening Day had already sold out.  The first game I could get tickets for was the final game of the series on Sunday night and the first game I could get bleacher seats for was the following Wednesday against the Padres.  As I was trying to figure out which one I should do I remembered it was Lent and I was giving up self-denial so I just got them both.  Then I coerced the kid into getting tickets for Monday(Opening Day) and Tuesday at Miller so we'd have something worthwhile to do between games.  Being under a roof and and able to heckle both Brewers and Pirates at the same time during Tuesday's downpour I somehow forgot to check when they were rescheduling the rain out at Wrigley.  We didn't realize the start time had been moved up until a couple of hours before the games.  You never want to arrive late to the bleachers.  We couldn't find seats in left field until the second game and had to spend the first one in right.  It sucked.  Probably why we lost that one.

I guess I'd be okay with the second Saturday every month being a DH just as you describe; that would help keep the World Series out of November.

I confess the one DH I attended was a bit brutal, especially since I didn't realize they were playing two games, I had some place I was supposed to be (I didn't make it) and I ran out of beer money with about 13 innings remaining.

Famously streaky team and I don't put much stock in streaks.

What do we think about rules to limit the shift? They're complaining about it neutralizing left-handed lumbering sluggers etc. but they're also complaining about how many home runs are hit but I think the two are connected. If you hit it 120mph but don't get it over their heads, you're screwed. Hit it where they can't catch it, you're a hero. The Giants have laid down a few bunts in swinging situations and moved everyone up 90 ft... I have wondered why more teams don't take what they're given, but it's been a few years now and that's still rare. So maybe I'm okay with a rule.
