That's a cool story.  I had a friend who went to Oberlin in the '80s; it has a reputable music conservatory.  Hmm, Rhiannon Giddens graduated from there - I doubt she played baseball there though.

Mr Srsly, sorry for the delayed response - tough week at work so far...

We use Yahoo, go to Yahoo sports/Fantasy/Baseball, that will give you a good overview. PM me with a phone number if you want and we can talk over the weekend and I’ll get you as up to speed as I can. Easier to do that than write a book here.
As for getting players we have a live draft which will be somewhere around #/18 - 19. It’s a snake draft - think NFL.

Same here. Feels like I already put in a week's worth.

I'll peruse the Yahoo stuff (eventually) and get back to you in a PM.

I'm interested in trying out. Depends on how time-consuming it is. Never played before.

What's involved? I did some googling but different fantasy Leagues have different rules from what i gather. Like how do the players pick their teams?

If anyone here would like to join, drop a note here and PM me your email, I’ll get you an invite. This will be our 15th season (!!) and we are running with 8 players the past few years. We have room for 4 More.

I hear ya, we lost a pretty good manager and have been under investigation for two months because of his alleged involvement in  Houston.
Seems he’s a bit of a fall guy, but they didn’t go easy on Hinch or the GM and I expect he’ll get it worse. Results are supposedly gonna be announced Friday.
Not hoping for another investigation at all, but I really wonder what in hell all Bret Gardner’s banging on the dugout ceiling was al about last year.

The two incidents I'd seen of him doing that he was apparently "protesting" calls from the home plate umpire; I don't know if there was a batter in the box either time (not a lot of camera angles).  He was ejected by the home plate umpire both times.

I admit I feel dirty and a little sick to my stomach over this whole thing. The fact that my team got caught doing something dirty is disheartening to say the least. I agree that it does befoul the win. Sign stealing has been a part of baseball since day one but I agree that to have taken it into the 21st century as the Astros did was just too much.  With that said I also think our pitching staff was equally responsible for us winning that series and knowing what pitch is about to be thrown and hitting that pitch are two entirely different things. That's just how it seems to me but again my take is distorted because I'm a homer like a mofo. {#Meditate}

I think corking bats should be allowed. Maybe not with the superballs that some players were using, but actual cork, sure.

 I think corked bats are far preferable to aluminium or even those splintery maple ones.  Even with superballs I don't think it does a whole lot other than make it lighter.  As a general rule lighter is faster, faster is better.

  Several years ago I was watching a spring training game and one of the announcers was going over the new rules that would be in effect that year.  One of them was that starting that year when managers made mound visits they would be allowed to bring along an interpreter for their Japanese, Spanish, or whatever speaking pitchers. Without missing a beat Jim Deshaies chimed in "Man, I sure wished we had that back when Yogi was managing".
