oddly i have been able to go through one listen already (i know, where did the time come from?)

just ripped it to a playlist and let it fly in the background at home at a high/loud volume (my usual method)

first a lot of stuff i hadn't heard in a while which was nice, and some songs from artists i had not or could not recall

and lastly new stuff or new to me which is always great too

Ok since you don't have song list going to go ahead and post.  And again sorry about that, but my therapist has advised to avoid printers as much as possible.  No one needs that kind of negativity in their life.{#Meditate}

Around the edges.

     Russ used to always sign off with that and I really like it.  An at home familiar feeling, but just a little off with more than a hint of looking inside the window as the rest of the world goes on about their business.
     This is my homage to this idea, staying true to the spirit of the outsider who has not lost touch with the center and is hanging about the perimeter.  Oh I have heard this band before, but don't hear this one very often. I know this song, but haven't heard this version. Occupying the space just not quite right or right Around the Edges:

Yea I would like to claim a spiritual minimalism inspired by Thoreau, but in reality I just have a hate/hate relationship with printers so I will post the song list in about a week or so to give everyone a chance to receive and listen. {#Mrgreen}

Boy I had to scroll down quite a way to find the original post of the mix. Feel late to the gig for sure.
As previously stated, I'm a lover of Power Pop so this was something I was looking forward to listening to. It didn't disappoint. Some good familiar things and ALOT of new ones

My thoughts along the way

Disc 1
So Sad About Us - wasn't familiar with this but Kieth Moon's style was unmistakable.
Couldn't I just Tell You - I started listening to Todd around the age of 14. Something/Anything was the 2nd album of his that I bought and it turned me into an instant fan, Big Time! So hearing it in the context of this mix just tells me (no pun intended there) where my love of Power Pop originated.
The Searchers - love that Rickenbacher sound!
Cheap Trick - solid selection from them, considering their extensive catalogue. Nice Pik!
Up All Night - This has all the ingredients of a great power pop tune, not overly produced, just sweet. And I think I have a Records album stashed away in my vinyl collection that is overdue for a playing.
Too Much Joy - good band name. Lay your head in my lap stood out on the lyrics. Can't have too much joy that way wink wink
Throwing Muses - this song was familiar to me but I'll be damned if I know from where

Disc 2
Lush - thought it was the Bangles
Long Time Coming - Digged the vocals and that background sound was interesting.
78 Saab - the voice sounded familiar, but I've never heard of these guys.
Melody Comes - good guitar drive
Floating Vibes - I really dug this tune, probably favorite on the mix. Surfer Blood hmmm. I've never been surfing actually.
Gold and Honey - good use of hand clapping, liked how they mixed up the beats
The Mess you Made - Chicks are always turning into messes, what's up with that.
Cloud Nothings - These guys have a great drummer
Silver Sun Pickups - I've like these guys from the first time I've heard them. This was new so extra sweet
Eight Miles Out - Winner for the best mix closer! Excellent!

Nice work Kurt! Love the Calvin and Hobbes artwork too. I'm a fan from way back.
Thanks for your patience on the review. Seems like everyone had theirs in before the disc hit my mailbox.

 Hey! I really appreciate the time you spent doing a review. Glad you liked my mix. I just love Power Pop. I’m always amazed at the songs I listen to from way back and I realized they were Power Pop!

The Who. Who da thunk? Good ol’ Pete initially coined the term Power Pop.

Todd was there in the beginnings for sure.

The 12 string Rickenbacher. If I knew how to play that instrument the way experts played it... I’d just lay on a bed all day and jangle. Look for something in the future from me on that subject.

Throwing Muses... This song actually gets played here on R. Paradise... https://radioparadise.com/music/song/30331/Throwing_Muses-Not_Too_Soon Love Tanya Donelly’s voice.

That Lush song is so unlike their other music. They do have a diverse catalogue.

Love the Delays. I tried to upload that song here. It got the boot.

78 Saab has one song here on the playlist... https://radioparadise.com/music/song/43924/78_Saab-All_A_Lie
There should be more!

Silver Sun is a little different than Silver Sun Pickups.

Thanks for the nice compliments. I understand my taste of music leans to a more poppy sound than most here probably listen to.

i'm with you on this

i've still got a varied mish mash of music stored on compact discs, hard drives and cloud storage

pretty sure google music will let you upload 50,000 songs to your play music service for free

i put a ton of music there but have dropped the ball on cleaning that up (i'd like to blame high quality streaming for that) {#Biggrin}

probably just buy some ssd storage and stash it on there...eventually
