Me, I think he was looking for something to use as the spine of his new film and then...that song that the guy sang (not spoiling the plot by naming it) came on. Inspiration! It didn't redefine cinema as we know it, but it was pretty, interesting, and a good day at the real, big, Atmos cinema. Not a small screen film by any means.
