Why not April 1? Might be more appropriate.

"We saw his press conference. It was on a lot, actually," she said. "Trump kept saying it was basically pretty much a cure."

"We were afraid of getting sick," she told NBC.

Bioethicist and oncologist Ezekiel Emanuel sharply criticized Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Monday for reportedly using the Senate gym and pool while awaiting his coronavirus test results, which were ultimately positive.

“This lack of leadership ... things we’re asking the public to do that is not being emulated by our public officials, and especially by a physician,” Emanuel, a senior fellow at the liberal Center for American Progress, said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Monday of the ophthalmologist. “Multiple times Rand Paul has sort of violated his basic oath of being a physician, that he should model good, healthy behaviors.”

Pretty sad where I am seeing more cohesion, unity and focus on FB than in here.  You guys have fun with all the politics and what not.  I will be checking in for music related stuff , but geez people, we are still really having these types of conversations??  Do we really think complaining about the government is going to accomplish anything positive??{#Eek}

Trump rejects argument for US lockdown In the US, President Donald Tump has been cautioning against a prolonged shut down or issuing stay-at-home orders. Trump, speaking a virtual ‘town hall’ meeting, said that a country could be destroyed by shutting it down and pointed to other causes of large numbers of death in an attempt to defend his administration’s approach to the coronavirus outbreak. “Well you have to make the decision. I brought some numbers here. We lose thousands and thousands of people per year to the flu. We don’t turn the country off,” Trump said. “We lose thousands of people a year to the flu. We never turn the country off. We lose thousands of people per year to automobile accidents.”
Why it is not a good time to have a president who is just a bit off the pace. I mean, we were all there at some point, but sooner or later the actual implications start to kick in. He is just a bit slower than most to understand them.

Looks like he's been reading your early posts on herd immunity and manageable risk...

Nah, Richard, that's unfair. {#Grumpy}

I never advocated a lifting of social distancing and letting the disease run its natural course. Not once.

The only reason I can see why a controlled approach to infecting very low-risk cohorts at a time under controlled quarantine conditions, and only when the resources are available, is that such an approach would greatly accelerate the rate of mutation.  If it weren't for that, it would still be a good idea.

Assuming suppression is successful, we are only at base one. Either we get a vaccine that works or we will be constantly managing local outbreaks for a long time to come, basically until herd immunity evolves of its own accord.
