Thinking of the people of Butte Co as I listen to RP. Relieved to hear Rebecca and Bill are safe. My heart goes out to Paradise after such sudden and complete devastation.  Stay strong.

So glad to see that Bill and Rebecca are ok, amid such devastation. Tuned in this morning (UK time) only to hear Kathleen Edwards "Goodnight California" which brought a tear to my eyes!

Our friend and her family escaped with some pictures, documents and their pets according to a FB post this morning.  Their house is gone, but they are ok.  Patty's family goes back to grand parents in Paradise in the 20's.  Very sad times.

Spoke with my cousin in Sacto for about an hour and they basically cannot go outside.  The sky there is orange.  He went to school up there and is really concerned about a wind shift and the steep deep canyons lighting up like jet engines and heading east up in The Sierra.  Nothing there and nothing to stop it.  Could burn until the snow falls if it goes in that direction.

This is terrible, shocking news. The post on the homepage seems to indicate that B&R aren't living in Paradise at the moment, but I feel for all the other residents who have to rebuild their lives. I hope no lives were lost. The mental scarring after such a catastrophe is the real concern. The town of Marysville, Victoria was almost completely destroyed in the 2009 'Black Saturday' fires; now it is a thriving tourist centre once more. So Paradise will get back on its feet again.

Glad to hear you are safe.    I hope you don't suffer any loses.    We are in SoCal.   We were considering retiring in the North Central valley.   These recent fires are very discouraging and quite frieghting.
