Ok then...so if I have NO Wifi, (or, for experiment sake I just turn OFF the WIFI on my phone) the app will play from the cache (as long as I have the *Cell Data* checkbox unchecked)

But now Im confused again, bc the other day I filled the cache and it said 12hrs.....now atm, some days later, it says 0hrs 0 mins.

Apparently now I have no cache, even though I havent used it since I filled it.
?????????

I believe the cache will clear out after 12 hours - whether played or not.

I'm not familiar with Tasker.  Might work if it can simulate a click on the 'Fill & Refresh Cache' option in our app settings, otherwise no. We don't have any way set up for the app to receive external input.

Can you make it so the cache only fills with sets that don't have any U2? {#Wink}

FYI, The app just won't work for me. I've uninstalled and re-installed several times. It looks good, but when I hit play (or autostart), it displays the latest song in the playlist, then shows "commercial free listener supported radio", Then the next several songs in quick succession (about 10-15 seconds each), then goes silent. It does give me a nice psychic feeling for knowing the next few songs though.

Or you could keep an under-educated phone for making phone calls and buy an Android tablet for all that other stuff.

True dat .. The junk they're offering in the 'dumb phone' market doesn't last too long. The hardware in most every smartphone is noticeably higher quality..

That was the initial behavior of the iOS app, but now both will let you cache RP for later offline playback.

Scott's disclaimer: I do not use this feature because I have a flip-phone.

The cache is *not* a time-shifting feature. It loads up to 12 hours of music but always attempts to remain in sync with the RP stream, so that when you go from a wifi zone to a no-signal zone, the music doesn't stop. Once you're back on a network, it fills the cache again but no matter what, what you're hearing will always be in sync with the live stream (or will actually be the live stream)...

12 hours after filling the cache, it will be empty again, whether you listen for 12 hours, 0 hours, or stop and start. As I understand it.

Trying to organize the download feature for play later.

I SET my *WIFI Cache Length* to 12hrs, then clicked *Fill and Refresh Cache*

this combination seemed to set the app in motion :)

I went ahead and unchecked *Disable to block streaming over cell networks* as a precaution.

Now Im confused how to go forward???

(a) once the cache fills then when I press PLAY it just plays from the cache NOT in RT?
(b) do I have to keep manually refilling the cache or does it auto fill when I am on WIFI?
(c) when I am using this cache option how do I play RP in real-time?

Thanks for the help.

For those having issues,

There will be an update around Monday (3.1)  it's more of a general refresh so not sure it will help.

As a fallback there is an older version that does not have the caching feature.
If the legacy version doesn't work, I have had one report of needing to change the stream setting from ogg to mp3.
Was for an LG Optimus  I believe.

I really liked the feature on my Iphone for setting an alarm to wake up to RP.  Any idea if that feature will carry over to the droid?  I sure miss it.{#Music}

You can do this with alarm clock apps that have a launch app feature.   "Alarm Clock Plus"  for example.    You just need to enable  the play on launch setting in the Radio Paradise app.
