Yes indeed.  And unusual in that other than the bass, there are no other strings used on the entire album.

Each side is one continuous segue with no breaks between songs.

Been a dozen or so years since I last played it, too.

I'll pull out Stepping Out and Breaking Us In Two as stand alone tracks, but it is a great listen from end to end.

The Players in studio.

State of the art arrangement of songs and mixing, very underrated musicians, then and now (even live):

2017 Box set.  The first 4 albums pressed on 8 sides of 45 RPM vinyl.

First up ... and perhaps my favorite.

Just arrived in the mail.  Been on the want list for the past few years.

2017 50th Anniversary global release.  2 X 180 gram 12" vinyl and 2 X Hybrid SACD Cd.  One each of the mono and stereo versions.

One of my favorite albums, ever.  Still have my original 1967 USA stereo 1st press.  Got this for the stereo version.  Have the mono version in the vinyl box set, but it just wasn't the same.  I do prefer the stereo version.  Just is fuller in sound.  What I am used to hearing.  The enclosed mono version is supposed / not supposed to be different from the mono version in the box set.  We'll see when we get there.  Right now still on the first listen to the stereo version, I would have to use an old construction term to describe it ... it's tits !!!
.
Mono can be cool, but I still will take a proper stereo version of most anything over mono.  The only exception to this so far for me are the first two Buffalo Springfield albums.  The mono mix is hands down better than the stereo.  The band did the mono mix and the corporate side did the stereo mix when the band was on the road, only because stereo was a new thing and ...  You can easily tell the difference.

The Beatles mono vs stereo is a whole nuther subject, though.

I've always liked that one.
Quirky.

AFAICT this is an amazing album...

Yep.  This remix just made it even better.  Didn't like it the first time I heard it a couple of years ago, but with the turntable all dialed in now and after just playing the earlier original mix, I like this better now.  Hits all the right spots for me.  This has pop and sparkles and that Tull texture.  Stands up well to the passing of time for me.

Saw them twice in a row for Aqualung at The Forum in Inglewood and then for Thick As A Brick here in Cleveland.  Livingston Taylor opened both times.  The Forum concert was extra special because we had 6th row center behind the stage or basically on it.  The perspective from that seat showed me just how much hard work goes on during a show to pull off a good show.  And that was 1970 so I had a great appreciation for an extra good show from early on.  That and the music was good as was the mesc.  But back to the texture, something totally unique and even more present live. This texture seems to have disappeared pretty much after Passion Play, at least for me.

Ear candy, desert island stuff.  Benefit is next up as I go through them.  The EU and USA versions.  I much prefer the songs on the USA version of Benefit.  This Was is down the road for now.

1982 USA 1st press.  I seem to end up playing something by Genesis when someone close to me passes.  Had this picked out before I got the news this morning.  Started when my Dad passed. R I P Janie.  My 90's concert buddy.

2014 USA version reissue.

Besides being a fantastic offering of this album, a little bit more.  When I finished ripping it and was marveling about how mellow of an album this was in retrospect to the wife, I mentioned the first time I remembered ever hearing the album besides just hearing some stuff on the radio.  It was at a party at my soon to be ex girlfriend's home who was the one who put the two of us together.  She said that was also the first time she heard the album as well.  We were both at that party and heard the album for the first time together.  On a Sears Silvertone all in one.  Nearly 54 years ago this summer.
