Went to a house party on Saturday with 30-some-odd ex-college-radio DJs and saw not one—zero—phones in use. One woman passed around a slip of paper for people to write, with a pencil their phone #s. I had my photo taken several times and I think one time may have been with a phone but other than that, everyone brought a camera if they planned to gather evidence snap a photo. The only exception was when the host's Pandora channel went off the rails and started playing Jimmy Buffett... then a bunch of phones magically appeared so the owners could hijack the stereo...

That is how I roll, no wireless devices, no cell phones. If it were not for my stepson still being in the house, there would be no internet either.

Wouldn't need 'em if more people just lowered their shoulder when someone who *should* move doesn't. I just shout "comin' thru!" in their ear. And/or make a grand gesture like "by all means wander all over Costco while pushing a 500# cart full of Green Tea Yogurt Balls because you can't walk any better'n you drive." You get all that in a single gesture. So efficient. Looks like a single finger but hey, regional differences.
Are you sure you are not at " a store anywhere in the US" question mark in there somewhere.

I have kind of a nice story..... Was driving to mom's on Route 202N in NJ. It's a two-lane road with lots of lights. As I pulled up to a light, a car cut me off and got in front of me. As I passed her between lights, I saw a woman, about my age, maybe younger (probably younger) texting. She was driving "slowly" but swerving. At the next light, I pulled up next to her and rolled my window down and said (with a worried look) "you're totally not being safe" I admit, my heart was beating, I didnt know how she was going to react. She looked at me with a pretty serious expression, nodded her head, and said "OK."
and then what happened? did she pull over, keep driving, or put the phone away?

I have kind of a nice story..... Was driving to mom's on Route 202N in NJ. It's a two-lane road with lots of lights. As I pulled up to a light, a car cut me off and got in front of me. As I passed her between lights, I saw a woman, about my age, maybe younger (probably younger) texting. She was driving "slowly" but swerving. As a pedestrian and a bike rider (as well as an occasional driver) in a big city, I have become increasing concerned about the number of people I see who are driving and texting.
Do you know that texting while driving = driving after having 4 drinks!
Oprah is also very concerned about this and she did a whole show about it. It will shock you and break your heart to hear about the deaths that have occurred because of texters.
Please take some time to watch either the short or whole show, and take the pledge to not use your phone while driving, especially no texting.
