I'm not sure if this is quite as corny as his huge hit "Honey", but it's close.  Quite a dubious song title though.

He was a cowboy, mister, and he loved the land. He loved it so much he
made a woman out of dirt and married her. But when he kissed her,
she disintegrated. Later, at the funeral, when the preacher said, "Dust to dust,"
some people laughed, and the cowboy shot them.

At his hanging, he told the others, "I'll be waiting for you in heaven—with a gun."

I think that you are right. He does give them softball questions despite the fact that he pretends that he is roughing people up.

As for the Rutgers incident, I too believe in giving forgiveness and second chances. I think that he should be given a second chance. It does mean that I have to listen to him though...

I've never been a fan of Imus, don't think he's even on the air around here but I may be wrong. He screwed up, lost his job and paid the price. Now he's getting his second chance and that's as it should be. There's a loooooooong list of people before him who stepped in shit and got second chances, and there will be many more after him. This ain't China, where ya take a guy out back and shoot him...

You actually stated things about the interviews much better than I did. Looking back I may have made it sound like Imus was a good interviewer. I agree with most of your assessment of his lack of skills in that area. What I was thinking was he does often ask questions you don't normally here in interviews with the people in the news.

And it is the quality of the guests that is most impressive. It will be interesting to see if any of the old NBC crowd - Russert, Chris Matthews, Tom Brokaw and others will be on this new venue.

Plus in the last two years he really has had some great music on.

In the sense of his attracting interesting guests from the political world, Imus is somewhat like Barbara Walters.
