I am chomping at the bit to give this a try. The timing is perfect; with our family downsizing (kids leaving), replacing the old minivan with a small car makes a lot of sense. This will no doubt be a time-consuming project, but it will be worth it. Just gotta figure out how to "fit" this into our budget (heh, heh). 2015 Honda Fit Kit - First DIY Honda Car by SimplyJustRandomness

It's up against a wall that used to be part of a hallway. The hallway is now incorporated into the adjacent rooms. The curvy wall is the East side of the room, to the west are windows that look out on the deck/sound.

I hope you don't do your drinking in that room. Looks like it would induce nausea.

did you ever post pic of the finished curved wall? I need to take some better ones (and some complete pictures of the rest too). Here's a cell phone pic that's a bit blown out:

In such an event, I imagine salvaging all the nice interior woodwork and having it refinished and re-installed. The windows would have to be custom-made to the original appearance but with modern, insulating glass - and would therefor be hideously expensive. What we'd have would be a house that looks 1927, with all the modern conveniences and efficiency.

The panel is modern and all the 220 stuff and wiring on the large appliances is new, but the light fixtures and outlets are for the most part still on the knob & tube stuff in the attic. I'm going with character because other than this one fixture's flickering issue (now fixed) we really don't have any issues.

Do you have a modern panel? Any knob and tube? You might be able to just do a circuit at a time now and then and get it done over time. Or, as long as you don't have any major issues, just chalk it up to 'character' of living in an old house.
