This weekend, an old friend visiting said, "You know - school typically starts the day after Labor Day in Louisiana where we went to school. And you and I met in fourth grade in Ms. Tornabene's class. So that means that as of this Tuesday, it will be the fifty-year anniversary of our friendship..."

Woah. So proud to have had him as my brother-by-choice for all these years. We've seen many many highs and lows together. Grade school, scout camp, girlfriends, college, kids - and now we look at each other and say "retire? I'm finally getting good at this!" Although we learned that we absolutely cannot stand to be around each other for more than a week in a row; we're so different. Still. Wow.

Can't wait to see Todd Snider in September at a really small venue in San Diego. He's promising an old school performance, just him, a stool, his guitar and harmonica. Should be awesome.

I am grateful for my hub.... I'm not much of a girly girl but he though it was a benefit that I: a) liked NASCAR b) drank beer c) loved road trips and driving in the dead of night d) liked anchovies I'm girly girl enough for him. TG.

Today I am grateful for the lawn mower Daddy bought for me all those years ago and that now that it's been serviced, it starts on the first pull! I am grateful that I know what it feels like, and was able to catch my contact lens when it popped out of my eye at the gym earlier! I'm grateful for cold beer!
