It's the strangest thing. Always good energy and highly spirited, I saw a different behavior at the beach. He never saw the ocean until about the age you see him there. Over several visits in '11 and '12 I had him on the beach and a strange calm would come over him when he looked out at the water and waves. It's like I understood that emotion exactly.
I had him cremated and they put his ashes in a fancy wooden box. I'll keep a small amount to make a talisman but I think I'm going to scatter most of them in the surf or off the pier in the area where most of the pictures and video I took of him were made. Some I've posted in the past.
Thanks Bill. I had to give him back in 2016. Still not over it, truth be told. He comes to visit my dreams sometimes. That picture was taken in Colorado. He must be around 11 there. Had him 8 more years after that. In a way it seems like yesterday and at the same time a long long time ago.
Wait. when you say "give him back", is that a figurative way of saying send him back to the earth from where he came?

I can relate to that. Especially since my odds of passing on early have been overwhelming. At least in my own fantasy...
But then again, you never know when your last inhalation hits you.
One thing I observed on the dying, at last, they always inhale but don't exhale anymore... up to the inner skies they seem to go and vanish for a no-returner.
