None of these folks (Hillary, Obama, Pelosi, etc) have "control".  They all have influence, as do most former presidents, House speakers, senators, secretaries of state, etc in either party.  As well they should.

Yup.   Very different, but with Hillary and Obama still holding a lot of control, that's not to be dismissed either.

There is no point in discussing particulars, and at some point... this point... engaging in the conversation only serves to justify to unjust.

We know the following:

Donald Trump has been accused of sexual assault and misconduct by multiple women, made racist and xenophobic comments about immigrants and minorities, mocked a disabled reporter, bragged about sexual assault on the Access Hollywood tape, had more than a casual friendship with Jeffery Epstien, spread conspiracy theories and misinformation, refused to release his tax returns, had numerous associates convicted of crimes, was impeached twice, mishandled classified documents after leaving office, attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 election, incited the January 6th attack on the Capitol, called neo-Nazis "very fine people," separated migrant children from their families at the border, downplayed the severity of COVID-19, suggested injecting disinfectant as a potential cure, uses racist terms like "kung flu," calls the press "the enemy of the people," praises authoritarian leaders, undermines democratic institutions and norms, makes false claims of election fraud, uses his position to enrich his businesses, appointed unqualified family members to key positions, withdrew from the Paris climate agreement, rolled back environmental protections, imposed tariffs that hurt American farmers, failed to deliver on promises like building a border wall paid for by Mexico, misused charitable funds from his foundation, made degrading comments about women, mocked war heroes and Gold Star families, displayed a pattern of dishonesty and self-aggrandizement throughout his business career and presidency.  He is a pathological, narcissistic liar, and a soon-to-be convicted felon.

Those are not opinions... yet many in the US see that person as the "leadership we need".  I've said it before and haven't seen evidence to the contrary:  Selfish, stupid or racist.  The qualities of the MAGA movement.

To retain the slightest thread of dignity and humanity as a country, I'd vote for almost anyone else.

The counterparties to the back and forth here are either MAGA cult enthusiasts or paid trolls.  At some point, you have to stop supporting either.  Time to cut them off.

That's why I'm going cold turkey.  No more giving a shit about the projections and the whataboutism's.

Good luck democracy... you're going to have to stand on your own for a few months.  Godspeed.

Kamala is blowing funding records and filling arenas with cheering, energetic crowds.
Trump and Vance are still walking on rakes and the campaign is going off the rails with racist and gender attacks.
Democrats are feeling hopeful again.

BUT
As we revel in Kamala's success so far; it's important remember, underneath it all the GOP machine is furiously at work to destroy what appears to be a potential Dem victory.
This is when we need to begin watching State Election Offices in Red States. Billionaires, State leaders and the GOP won't just sit there and watch their potential take over go down in flames. They are already working on ways to tangle the election up enough to send it to the SCOTUS to decide. From electors that refuse to count votes, not sending mail-in ballots to voters in time for elections (as has now been found rampant in Texas) or chucking mail-in votes from certain parties, these desperate folks are not above doing the very worst to take this to a court that will give them a victory.

These are the people who are ok spending billions on a candidate that incited a riot at the Capitol that resulted in Police beatings and deaths afterward, in addition to smearing feces on the Capitol Walls ... they have no integrity or conscience, and will do anything to gain power. We need no more proof of the malfeasance they are capable of. This is do or die for them.

It’s Silicon Valley vs. Silicon Valley as Political Fights Escalate
Elon Musk, Reid Hoffman and other tech billionaires, many of whom are part of the “PayPal Mafia,” are openly brawling with one another over politics as tensions rise.

The casual voter is going to mostly look beyond things like this and the cat lady bit, and see his upbringing, military service, education…of course this is all somewhat superficial, but if we had an informed voter base we wouldn’t be where we are now.

not sure what those polls say, other than he's not "popular" or well known.

his stance on abortion is probably his biggest strike.

I'm not arguing for Vance and not even familiar with him myself...more so, that I think the dems can do better than Harris...and hope they ultimately do.
