The Xanax wasn't perfect but it took a bit of the edge off his scary trembling. Eventually he developed his own defense by losing hearing. That even worked for the gun shots.

My issue...I need to beat the squirrels to them. They LOVE 'em. If you look out at my yard in the fall, there are piles and piles of green (then black) outer shells...with the inner shell cracked open in the center of the pile. To stop the piling up and to save the lawnmower blade, I would collect them and throw them into the woods a few times a day during peak season. There were days where I'd pick up 3 to 5 dozen....for 3 or 4 weeks. It got my throwing arm back in shape. At first, it hurt a bit to throw. By the end of fall...I was Nolan Ryan (of today of course...)

My G put them in the smokehouse on the floor and let the skin rot off. Then she broke them with a hammer lol
Thick hard shells with not much meat, but worth it if you like that bitter taste.

Same. Years ago, at a different house, one of the hurricanes that season brought one down and a guy removed it for the lumber. Black walnut is fairly common here. It's pretty valuable slabbed and kiln dried.
Somehow squirrels eat those things. The shells are as hard as rock.
That piece has some seriously crazy grain going on.

My mother made pound cakes every Christmas, and would put black walnut in some of the loaves. I know many people don't like it, but I love it in pound cake. And I've got some Black Walnut Bitters that make an awesome Manhattan.
Yay. My Grandmother made the cakes also. Ice cream too. Well, she didn't crank the old ice-cream maker. That was us kids job. lol
Never had a special drink with it. Sounds delish.
