yea, likely she didn't say it, ever, as she worked with Chimpanzees and not Gorillas
Oh I didn't even search for that, I am not particularly anal like that. I meant I couldn't find your original post to reply to that instead of Scott's, prolly just missed it. I couldn't care less whether it was historically accurate or not, it is damned funny and that is all that is important.
I am not one of those gotcha people that search endlessly for source material and what not, let's call them source Nazis! lol

Let me just throw one name out there from network television and see if I can get your assessment just to gauge where you stand generally: Lester Holt on NBC Nightly News
Lester Holt. Let's see if I remember correctly. A journalism major who graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, plays bass and is middle right ? I watched him come up on the Today Show as a weekend anchor. Did a stand up job. I haven't watched NBC since the beginning of the Obama Administration because of the taint and stink of Immelt and Brian Williams. Was happy to see him get the job after the disgrace of Brian Williams.
But I just cannot watch NBC for news. The way they handled the Trevon Martin story finished any hope of taking them seriously ever again. Holt, man sorry to see him there as I just cannot get past his employer.

I have not watched enough mainstream news other than what I am subject to when it is airing in public places which is mostly CNN and I find that dreck. And it is not just bias, but more importantly what they talk about as well. It is all TMZ. I have not watched any of the original broadcast stations in years, but do watch PBS occasionally and find them to be somewhat tolerable. I do however see the mainstream print news and the headlines themselves are outrageously biased depending on the source. Basically I no longer watch the news, I just read the comments and laugh at everyone yelling at each other.
Those panels on television shows whose participants often do degenerate into yelling at each other are analogous to the op-ed page in a newspaper. Those are meant to be opinions, and should be seen as such. The problem, of course, with the advent of 24-hour cable is that those panel shows are ubiquitous, leading many to conclude that there is no straight news. People tend to watch TV much more often than readers past and present would read editorials in a newspaper. As you say, people turn to them for entertainment purposes. People are drawn to train wrecks (like here, sometimes).

Yeah, that's probably true about musicians. I think the demand for true journalists/journalism is definitely diminished, but there is more of it in the sources that Black321 mentioned and other places.
For sure, on the radio and TV it is pretty sparse out there, but I do believe there is some good print journalism out there.
There are still many viable journalists and/or reporters, maybe fewer people are paying attention to them, but they're around. To say they no longer exist based upon what's on MSNBC or Fox News is like listening to today's Top 40 and concluding that there are no longer any musicians or talented songwriters.
That is actually a pretty good general analogy, but I think musicians and talented songwriters are much more numerous and easily found. The state of true journalism is in a much more tenuous position and I would include all of the major networks as well. FOX and MSNBC are just less subtle about it.

And you said "Journalism is a dying profession," which, on its face, means that you believe it still exists.
Hanging by a thread, all we have is commentators, propagandist and entertainers with agendas and biases. If you do not agree with that, this is perfectly fine with me, after all just like the "news" it's all opinion, man. ;-)

Not really a thread jack as media is a central theme of Trump presidency...but who/where are the reliable, unbiased news (not oped) sources? My own are a mixed bag of NPR, BBC, Wall St. Journal, Economist, and others with a more pronounced bias (on both sides).
