Like I said below. I get shit no matter what I say. I could say that the sky is blue and someone is going to ask for a citation from me to back that up.
You'd probably say it in the middle of the night...

If you would read what I said, I clearly did not call Romney's faith into question. I simply mentioned it because so many others do call his faith into question. That is one thing that was held against Romney in 2012. The majority in this country view Mormonism as a cult. That is a fact. Tell me that is not true. Wasn't his underwear mentioned below earlier ?
No, I got that. I was not focusing on his being a Mormon, just his being religious. I was questioning your saying he traded on being holier than thou. For example, Romney today spoke about his sworn oath to God in deciding to vote for conviction. Was this him acting holier than thou? Being politically expedient working only for his own self interest and self promotion?
I worked on Romney's 2012 campaign in Kent, Ohio. I got fooled on some things such that he was not supposed to be a globalist and overlooked other things trying to get him to beat Obama. Ron Paul was my first choice. I worked with a young man who was also a Ron Paul supporter doing the same thing as I was. We talked a lot.
I was put off by Romney shortly after the election and even more so when he ran for the Senate in Utah. For similar reasons I was put off with McCain. They both tried to claim the moral high ground but were just being politically expedient working only for their own self interests and self promotion. McCain traded on being a war hero and Romney plays the holier than thou card.
Being Mormon has nothing to do with anything btw.
My wife is a Mormon. She about puked when Romney cast his guilty vote.
McCain was a war hero (despite what a jealous Trump said about him during his campaign and as President). By all accounts I have read or heard, he was a man of honor and integrity and far from trading on his war hero status. I did not agree with him often on policy, but he was worthy of respect. Similarly with Romney.
I find it flabbergasting that you would question the role the man’s faith plays in his actions and decisions.
And I suppose you do not see Trump as trading on his glorified businessman status? Rhetorical question.
Yesh, we certainly do not want office holders seeking the moral high ground.

Oh yeah ...

I couldn't get past the magic underwear.

No, just a reaction to all of the fawning over Romney like all of a sudden he is now a good guy.
I was looking for a picture with a dog on the roof of a station wagon and found this instead.
None you would ever really consider voting for him for anything. Y'all would sooner cut off body parts than vote for him.
I see you are still painting with that same broad brush.
All the world's a snail....
Romney was ALWAYS a good guy. You should have voted for him. If enough voters had done so, we wouldn't be in this mess.
You might want to review his political record and statements. The guy worked with MA Democrats while he was Governor to implement something very close to Obamacare for the Commonwealth but then somehow decided that Obama's attempt to do the same for the nation was simply awful. He also was firmly against federal government support for the Big Three during the worst months of the Great Recession. Failure to provide that support likely would have meant the loss of millions of jobs at the Big Three, their suppliers and the surrounding economies.
So, not perhaps the best choice for a national economic crises that demanded massive government intervention. But Romney provides a stark contrast of integrity and moral character versus careerist opportunism, cowardice and desperate attempts to avoid acknowledging the truth of Trump's corruption and unfitness for any elected office.
âI am aware that there are people in my party and in my state who will strenuously disapprove of my decision, and in some quarters, I will be vehemently denounced. I am sure to hear abuse from the President and his supporters. Does anyone seriously believe I would consent to these consequences other than from an inescapable conviction that my oath before God demanded it of me?â
Who can doubt this? That shitstorm is already pelting him. Trump Jr. wants him expelled from the GOP. There undoubtedly will be much more threatening abuse hurled at him and probably his family.
