Well it made me smile and look to see who it was. Sounds like some musicians having a nice time playing together. You don't always have to be "tearing it up" for it to be good.
I usually adore the Cowboy Junkies, but this song is painful. It sounds like they're all drunk and tired.
absolute amateurs. just awful. all they gave us was ironic gen-x detachment

Kcar, WonderLizard and Ag3ntOrang3... you can play any guitar any way you like... standing on your head if you really want to. Yes the Dobro can be played horizontally like a pedal or lap steel guitar but it is basically a guitar with a metal insert or even completely made of steel and as such it looks and handles just like a normal guitar.
I would say that if you want to use it for Country, Bluegrass or other such genres then horizontal would be your choice.
If you want to play the Blues then you play it vertically like any other guitar.

I had the volume turned way down and slowly became aware of what sounded like a mooing cow. I'm totally serious. And I almost always like the Cowboy Junkies.
Not a big fan of this version.
