Told you baby one more time
Don't make me sit all alone and cry
Well it's over - I know it - but I can't let go

I'm like a fish out of water
A cat in a tree
You don't even want to talk to me
Well it's over - I know it - but I can't let go

He won't take me back when I come around
Says he's sorry then he puts me out
I got a big chain around my neck
And I'm broken down like a train wreck
Well it's over - I know it - but I can't let go

See I got a candle and it burns so bright
In my window every night
Well it's over - I know it - but I can't let go

You don't like to see me standing around
Feel like I been shot and didn't fall down
Well it's over - I know it - but I can't let go

He won't take me back when I come around
Says he's sorry then he puts me out
I got a big chain around my neck
And I'm broken down like a train wreck
Well it's over - I know it - but I can't let go

Turn off trouble like you turn off a light
Went off and left me it just ain't right
Well it's over - I know it - but I can't let go

Round every corner something I see
Bring me right back how it used to be
Well it's over - I know it - but I can't let go

He won't take me back when I come around
Says he's sorry then he puts me out
I got a big chain around my neck
And I'm broken down like a train wreck
Well it's over - I know it - but I can't let go

He won't take me back when I come around
Says he's sorry then he puts me out
I got a big chain around my neck
And I'm broken down like a train wreck
Well it's over I know it but I can't let go

Well it's over - I know it - but I can't let go
Well it's over - I know it - but I can't let go
Well it's over - I know it - but I can't let go

This showcases LW's brilliance.
Hey...ain't this boogie woogie?

Pronounced "boojie woojie"?  Out of respect to Long John Baldry.

It's okay.

Ha!

Different, not better or worse.

Great tune! Great artists! BUT, tall order to try and top Lucinda’s original…?!

Lucinda was the first to release it but her version is also a cover. Randy Weeks wrote the song.
much prefer this to anything by lucinda. thank you for this.
more Robert and Allison please!
Can't let go ... of that AutoTune.  Robert Plant doesn't need it; what cockamamie recording engineer thought that was a good idea?
Pointless remake. Adds nothing new.
Funny how some people saw a cover as an attempt to "top" another artist's work?  WTF? Does it always have to be about who's the best?
I see covers as tributes, or echoes. I imagine that the person who's doing the cover was touched by the song they're covering and just doing it to give something back.  Might be cheesy, but that's the way I see it.
Sorry for ranting.
P.S. Anyway,  Alison and Robert can hardly do wrong :)
This sucks.

Sorry, this just seems to miss the point of the song. Weirdly bouncy.

Completely flattened the beat and took out all the swing. A mere shadow of the original.

Is there any new/ not remakes on this album?

Yes, one: "High and Lonesome" by Robert Plant and T Bone Burnett.
This just makes me think of a high school glee club singing.  Makes me want to hear the original.  Meh.

That said, everything else I have heard off of this album is pretty good.
A nice cover, with the unmistakable imprint of T Bone Burnett. Plant's voice is still really good. But, overall, Lucinda Williams' version is near impossible to top!
Just saw them play this on Colbert show last night. The live performance was exceptional, particularly with 3 guitarists working.
So excited they are back. The last album was a stunner!
Sorry Mr Rock Star, this pales in comparison to Lucinda's version.
Planty and Alison?
Lucinda Williams?
New album?

Solid 10 all round from the Portland (the real one) jury!
fuck I love this song and by two of my favorite artists!

There weren't any on the last album - That was kind of the point of it.  It was an album of curated cover songs.

I don't think they were trying to top her; more like a tribute.

I am liking this. Fun stuff.
Not sure this remake is breaking any new ground and I'm not sure the lyrics work for a male-female duet. However, it's enjoyable and Alison's voice is always a delight to hear. I give it a solid 6. Would be a 7 if the lyrics alternated between the first/second person perspective.
