no time for breezy
no time for arguments
no time for love like now

there’s no time in the bardo
no time in the in-between
no time for love like now

there’s no time for dancing
no time for undecideds
no time for love like now

where did this all begin to change
the lockdown memories can’t sustain
this glistening, hanging free fall

i turned away from the glorious light
i turned my head and cried
whatever waiting means in this new place
i am waiting for you

there’s no time for honey
no time for psalms and thresholds
whisper a sweet prayer sigh

where did this all begin to change
the lockdown memories can’t sustain
this glistening hanging free fall

i turned away from the glorious light
i turned my head and cried
whatever waiting means in this new place
i am waiting for you
your voice is echoing love love love love love
i hear it far far away
and i am here waiting for you
i am waiting for you
whatever waiting means in this new place
i am waiting for you
i am waiting for you

Haunting...

Looks like it was a little later - https://www.jambase.com/article/michael-stipe-colbert-no-time-for-love-like-now

link below is apparently it but it doesn't work for me - whatever private means...

In the early days of the pandemic Stipe performed a version of this on The Late Show from his home studio.  For me it evokes that scary uncertain time.  "No time in the bardo, no time for the in between no time for love like now. "  Beautiful, haunting.

Agreed. You could take the vocal track by itself and put it on a band that sounds more like Pearl Jam (space, guitar, no annoying bouncy orch track) and it would probably move me to tears.

With the first line I thought, "REM? How do I not recognize this?!"

Yeah, I miss REM. The lyrics on this one… "i turned my head and cried"
I think this could have been GREAT, with a strong band behind him....
I remember seeing him perform this song on video several times last year on the various late night shows during the pandemic and thinking how great it was to have him back creating new music again. I hope this is just the start of more music from this gifted artist.
Fantastic vocal tones and pure emotion, nice 👍
Wow, that stopped me mid-work stream, pause, reflect, read the lyrics...absolutely loved it, went from an 8 to a 9 on first listen! Anyone hear the ending drums sound like a heartbeat stopping? Defo got me...nice one Bill!!
"lockdown memories" - A phrase December, 2019 me would not notice and current me paused, stopped work, and could not continue until I read the lyrics.
I keep hoping he will do another deep creative dive in his "wisdom years," either as a solo or collaborative work, or, maybe even with REM!  (I'm thinking similar to Bowie here).
Nice, soulful sound
Red ones go faster.
Despite bringing in some all-star help I can't help but feel this track is a mere shadow of the magic of Stipe's peak years.  It sort of reminds me of a terrible later career Waterboys track I hear on RP that makes me sad for Mike Scott.
Wow. Lyrics are intense. Thinking about all the people who 'ran out of time'. At first listen I'm kind of 'meh', but the lyrics are haunting. I can imagine a video collage of hospital rooms, distanced funerals, heartbroken friends and relatives. We all are forever changed.

It doesn't grab me on first listen, but I think it will grow on me.  Time will tell.
It's great to hear from him again.
Boy, I miss REM.

Michael is obviously getting old...he's slowed down enough so I can actually understand the words!
