You look at me with those brown eyes
What do you want to do?
Do you have to have me
The way that I want you, I want you?

When you look at me with those brown eyes
What do you want to say?
And are you just another liar?
Will you take me all the way, all the way?

The thing about Mick F, like all great musicians, he never dials it in. He tries to do something unique or different on every one.  Like this one.  Nothing fancy but there's a different sound to his simple drumming.
A tremendously talented and influential woman in a band that was truly the zeitgeist in the mid-70s.  Sorry to hear that she's gone.

I think Tusk is the Mac at their peak, a brave move by Lindsey to release an album that bore little or no resemblance to Rumours.
I would love to hear an extended mix of this track; it's almost like Peter Green is just hitting his stride as the track fades out...

Had to wiki, it is indeed Peter Green, did.not.know. What you learn on these forums.

I love the drums by the most excellent Mr Fleetwood.
RIP Christine McVie, your voice was angelic.
RIP Christine - the songbird.
Thanks for playing Fleetwod Mac today, as a tribute to Christine McVie who died yesterday... We're lucky she left her wonderful music and her distinctive voice in this world for us to enjoy!

Aging is such a trip... you watch people who once represented unbridled enthusiastic youth, fall away like leaves on a maple. Christine's contributions to art & joy will no doubt endure. They've already stood the test of time.
Indeed.  Goodbye to one of rock's major talents.
RIP Christine
RIP Christine McVie.

Yes, that is an excellent documentary.  So much history and its especially wonderful because of David Grohl's commitment to rehab and restore this essential studio for music history.  I also love the jam at the end with David Grohl, Paul McCartney and others.  Really worth the watch.
This song is wonderful.

As a bass player with many drummer friends I am of course in agreement. What is the basis of your take?

Just checked... Time waits for no one is a bit faster, but it would still be an interesting transition.
Since 1967, one of Rock's best rhythm sections.
I left a girl with Brown Eyes back in 1979 when my family moved from FL to TX.  Didn't hear from her for almost 40 years, then through the power of Facebook we found each other again.  This song and "Cinnamon Girl" remind of that time when we were young.

Way too many dinosaurs in the comments section when it comes to FWM. The fact is that the band is loved all over the world because of Nicks and Buckingham. Get over it. Nicks and Lindsey are Godlike, they are FWM and had FWM decided to not go commercial and recruit Nicks and Buckingham, they would be nothing more than a footnote in history. A lot of unwarranted hate for Nicks and Lindsey on these forums. The albums before them were excellent but the ones after they joined are immortal.

These photos are so weird, as if their heads were photoshopped onto anorexic bodies. And is that a tumor near Lindsay's appendix?

That said, I agree with others on: 1) I love the output & creativity of Fleetwood Mac - the earlier blues version AND the 70s pop version. 2) Just because they became superstars after Buckingham & Nicks joined does not mean their music became shit. The old trope of "if it's popular, I want no part of it" is such tiresome bullshit. 3) It took years for me to appreciate Tusk!
was Lindsey in the bathroom for this one, I didn't hear him?

rhetorical question

I must respectfully disagree. I've been a Mac fan since around '74, and I think this is up the re with their very best (Bare Trees being another favorite).

Perfect vibe for a summer evening, in the upper 60s, sweet breeze, swaying trees...

A haunting one from Christine, reminds me of their pre-B/N  period
So true, very good McVie  song that never got much airplay
on AOR radio at the time.
Few radio stations would play this song. Love how it flows. The perfect song for Christine McVie to perform.
I think RP has lost it's sync. It is most definitely not Fleetwood Mac Inam listening "44 skulls buried in the ground, oh yeah."!

It was certainly a brave and adventurous departure from the two enormously successful albums that preceded it. I didn't appreciate it much when it landed but I do now.

I never knew that.

I have renounced all FM post "Future Games" and listen only to my vinyl  travelling down memory lane proudly. But they occasionally rose to the level of their former genius. Maybe that involved Peter Green, and excludes Buckingham-Nicks influence, eh?

Ms. Nicks ruined a great band.

Uh, no.
Like a lot of people, I only knew the Buckingham-Nicks FM stuff but thanks to RP, learned about the amazing FM material from 1967-74.

To compare the two eras is foolish. Apples and oranges. Great for different reasons. I think the amount of stylistic changes is amazing and unlike anything in rock history. The Beatles come close but the personnel never changed after Ringo joined.

I've never seen them live but it would be really cool if they did what Yes has done and honor the whole history live. Get as many former members onstage and perform the work from all eras. Though the people who come for the hits show would be disappointed.

Anyway, enjoy both if you can.

I always thought it was the worse of any of the Fleetwood Mac albums! They were one of the best music groups of all times UNTIL Buckingham and Nicks joined the band and then the band just sucked and sucked and sucked!

For those that are not truly familiar with Fleetwood Mac, they had one dozen excellent albums before 1975 when B & N joined them! Then they sold sold and went commercial.

I actually don't really like "old" fleetwood mac; sounds like pretty generic british blues invasion wannabe blues to me.
I love this song, and album.

Christine Perfect = perfect

Has a nice pre-Nicks/Buckingham feel to it.
Love her songs and singing more than the rest of the hits.
Always thought Tusk was the greatest album, of many great albums, from Fleetwood Mac.
Always wanted to pick up on this LP.  Typical of FM radio, they'll only play the "popular" songs while ignoring lots more.
"...an uncredited performance by Peter Green"?  Learn something new every day.  Today's LA Times "Calendar" section has a great article on the Village Recorders studio where Tusk and other classic greats were recorded.  Looks like Christine McVie and Lindsay Buckinham will be putting out a new duo record soon.

First time for me.

To my ear it starts with a sort of acid jazz beat to it, so I assumed it was something like Thievery Corporation and buried my head back in my work.
Then about halfway through I thought "gosh, this is getting quite adventurous for trip-hop, they must be collaborating with an old hand".

Can't believe I didn't identify Christine's voice in there!
Just noticed, or just a thought; this song starts on the closing beat of 'Time Waits For No One'?
PETER GREEN was the foundation of Fleetwood Mac...he was the bones and soul. He just moved into another dimension and they moved on without him. Except for a few gems like this. Terrific album....TUSK!

Me too.

Reminds me to get a new turntable that is capable of recording to a digital Flash drive.
I need to get all my vinyl in digital format before they are all ruined.

Typically amazing production work here. Sounds great in the old headphones. Not their best track off not their best album. Still pretty solid.
Completely missed this one. Probably was avoiding them by this album. Glad to be introduced to it. The melody (and drum taps) are a bit redundant, but the vocals and harmonics are worth it.

But not as good as the earlier FM. I was listening to another C McVie song today - 'Believe Me' off 'Mystery to Me' and even though it's not the strongest song on the album, it has great guitar work and interesting twists to it.

Re Bill's commentary...I had no idea that Peter Green played on this lovely track.
beautiful song..rarely played anywhere on the ordinary radio, but this is Paradise.   beautiful child is another nice track from this LP
There are many equally impressive songs on the album. A few of which I would say are significantly more involving.

Oh wow. Great tune. First time I've heard this on the radio. Thanks Bill. Tusk has some real gems on it.

I love the story of how when the band first submitted this album to the record company, all the execs (after hearing it) watched their Christmas bonuses fly out of the window.
It was business as usual for Nicks and Christine McVie with their song-writing, but Buckingham had other ideas, and let his adoration of The Clash seep into the inspiration behind many of his songs on Tusk.
Buckingham's work as a producer with the tunes offered by Nicks and McVie was outstanding on this album as much as any.
Waiting for "TUSK!!"
Wow, I never heard this. So far, I like it.
