If only you'd have known me before the accident
For with that grand collision came a grave consequence
Receptors overloaded, they burst and disconnect
'Til there was little feeling please work with what is left

Oh I need not be flattered that you've never been here before
So there's no need to mention that you've no firsts anymore
But if you let me be your skyline I'll let you be the wave
That reduces me to rubble that looked safe from far away

I don't know why, I don't know why
I return to the scenes of these crimes
Where the hedgerows slowly wind
Through the ghosts of Beverly Drive
I don't know why, I don't know why
I don't know what I expect to find
Where all the news is second hand
And everything just goes on as planned

You wanna teach but not be taught
And I wanna sell but not be bought
So let us not be lonesome
So let us not be lonesome
Lost in between our needs and wants
Our needs and wants

I don't know why, I don't know why
I return to the scenes of these crimes
Where the hedgerows slowly wind
Through the ghosts of Beverly Drive
I don't know why, I don't know why
I don't know what I expect to find
Where all the news is second hand
And everything just goes on as planned

I don't know why, I don't know why
I don't know why, I don't know why
I don't know why, I don't know why
I don't know why, I don't know why

I think it has something to do with the guitar tones used on this song but I can see your parallel.

This is what you call a "Professional opinion".

Don't we all?

I can't answer your question because I don't understand what this line is getting at. The two concepts "I wanna sell" and "not be bought" seem incommensurate--that is, they don't match up. What is it that the songwriter wants to sell? Some merchandise? Themselves? Their soul? If it's the latter two, then, by definition they do want to be bought. But perhaps I missed something.

I'm out of sorts right now and Death Cab, with their constant repetitions, are a bit too cutsie for my liking. In short, they grate on me, so I PSD'd, though not quickly enough. Sorry if I've dragged anyone down with this comment, but I do feel a bit better getting if off my chest. RP chat as therapy?

Ya know, if you think about it, "The Beatles" is actually not really a great band name. It isn't particularly funny, ironic, or evocative unless you happen to be an entomologist. I guess the name just doesn't matter that much.

"You wanna teach but not be taught

So let us not be lonesome
So let us not be lonesome

Good stuff! 9.

Someone's going to make you pay your fare
My Pink Half Of The Drainpipe are a better band IMO.
Anyone here now?

Found on RP. More I hear more I like.

Too bad these guys never get any play here.

* flush *
the lyrics aren't exactly meaningful, but it's just got this catchy rhythm to it. I hate it when something gets stuck in my head and this one's gotten stuck. dangnabit.
Great new songs and album! Just saw them in Santa Barbara last weekend. Fantastic show, at an unbeatable venue. Good times and good stuff.
Yay!  New Death Cab! {#Guitarist}
Overplayed. Or I'm tuning into RP at the wrong times. Or too much in general.
yep. Cure and also new Order. Very much 80ies. Not too Bad.

DCFC Does it again!
Love it!
1st! Always good to be first in line {#Shifty} and always good to hear brand new music. There is something magical about hearing music for the first time. . . even if it is not the greatest. . . which this track falls into.

I am sure Death Cab fans will love it, but it falls a bit short for me.
