When I'm with you, all my brothers, oh
I feel like a king
It feels like I'm dreaming

When that blood goes rattling through my veins
My ears start to ring
I notice what matters

And I got nothing to lose but darkness and shadows
Got nothing to lose but bitterness and patterns

When I can't find the way to reach you my love
I'm just not the same
Just the same

When I know you're watching out for me
I know what I'm knowing
I can see what matters

And I got nothing to lose but darkness and shadows
Got nothing to lose but emptiness and hang-ups
Oooo

Oh, when I know you're watching out for me
I look for what matters
And I notice what matters

And I got nothing to lose but darkness and shadows
Got nothing to lose but loneliness and patterns

The flowers blooming, the trains collide
Ahhh
I don't got a thing to lose

Very good sound for enlarging your bike tour in the wilderness!
OMG.  I maybe -- maybe -- have found a new band I like.    Thanks for another turn-on,  Bill G!

<edit, 2 mins later>  And now I see that my "new" band was formed 25 years ago.  Oh, the years just keep rolling by ....

I love the voice. Unique!

Really great band - thanks RP for introducing one of the greatest psychedelic bands in the past 15 years…
Their drummer beats it..,,,,.

I just recently realized that I've _really_ liked pretty much every Spoon song I've heard.  My appreciation for them has definitely grown.
Yuk.
Play something different.
Paint it Black.
after rocking with early zz top, this sounds pretty lame like they've only just started to earn the guitar

Different riff, different chords; it's played at roughly the same tempo with similar phrasing.  Was it intentional?  Possibly.

pure poetry {#Music} inasmuch as the Sex Pistols wrote pure poetry - of our times....for a love song I like that it's gritty (although he's singing about Brothers, is it a love song?)

Has anything amusing ever happened to you in connection with spoons?
i was starting to dance ——good song.
I associate this song with House ... growing on me, 8!
Great tune - probably the best on this album.

Saw them live several months back and they TORE IT UP on this song....
Heard this song for the first time on HOUSE last night, I'm really diggin' this{#Bananajam}

Yep....sure do. And Terry Kath was a guitar god, btw. Early Chicago Rocks!

I don't know ... I just like it!{#Dancingbanana}
Got Nuffin? Yep. . . spot on. Lazy music is fine if you can back it up, but I don't hear it here.As I was writing this, the next track came on (currently The Who - The Real Me) and I was hit with a wall of amazing talent. The contrast from Spoon was huge. Got Nuffin? In comparison I'd have to agree.
notice the guitar is off at times as well..it is intentional. the_real_mccoy wrote:

It's there.
An eight for me.

So much rock!!! ... spilling out of the edges of the spoon! Yeah!! {#Dancingbanana_2}
I could not say if this is poorly engineered for my ears, but I feel that the heavy and monotonous drum line is way too present to let the rest shine a little. A solid 3 for me, maybe a 4 in 10 years when I am deaf.

Nice seque from Hard Days night!
One of the finest among newer modern bands. Truly progressive and fresh.
I haven't heard much from this band but even though this track is very simple it's really effective.
Great bass and overall groove.  The coarse/wild vocals kick ass
I've had anuffa this one.

Spoon is an American indie rock band from Austin, Texas with a wide following of fans of both underground music and popular music. The band is led by Britt Daniel (vocals, guitar); Jim Eno (drums); Rob Pope (bass) and Eric Harvey (keyboard, guitar, percussion, backing vocals).

Why I love them - Spoon brings a unique indie style to their music that I find undeniable. Spoon is definitely one of my favorite ipod bands - bands that I love to walk around campus to. My favorites are the albums Gimme Fiction, Kill the Moonlight, and GaGaGaGaGa. wnick87

after hearing this many times i started to like it—-the music especially; yes, it's very derivative and maybe the lyrics too confessional; but on Allen Ginsberg's b'day we can have confessional.
LOVE IT!!! Smooth obnoxious derivative with a TWIST i.e. original, abrasive: perfect coda for RP for old farts like Bill and me who lived the heyday of KLRB and all that great diverse early 80's stuff all smished up next to each other....

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

I completely agree

boring, repetitive, lacks hooks, melody

like hitting my head against a wall
what's the point ?

The opening lines have a very Alex DeLarge feel to them.

I was hoping to live the rest of my life without even a vague reminder of that.

Busted! It's a fair cop, I am guilty as charged. There's nuffin I can do except shuffle off into the darkness and shadows with my tail between my legs.....

Hearing this constantly would be enhanced interrogation, but I rather liked it this time.
This song is the first song in a looong time that moves me on so many levels... Love that they employed Eggleston for the cover and Freud for influence. love. love. love.
There's nothing like a little spooning.
Hmmm... you may have something there, very interesting. I think the opening of 'Got Nuffin' also sounds a bit like 'We Got the Beat' by the Go-Go's ...?

Agreed, this is the most elementary and boring bass riff I've ever heard. Monotonous and brain dead!

So much to like about Spoon.  I'll tolerate the phlegmy voice for now.
I like it. Spoon does very consistent work.
YAAAAAAAY! thank you for playing all of this great new music today, bill.
You can stream the whole album on NPR until 1/19: https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=122279793&sc=nl&cc=asc-20100111

Nice. New ablum?

UPDATE: Well, duh - it says "Released 2010"

Reminds me of the Ramone's 'I Wanna Be Sedated'. That is cool. {#Music}

So stoked to see this here.  Thought i was the only one to be struggling to appreciate what i accept sounds like a pretty good track because i'm thinking about the Tick shouting "Spoon" while Arthur uses his battle cry "Not in the face".
